Thre is a quote about setting a bird or some animal free and it will return if it wants to. Do you know where to find this quote?

Edited to fix origin: I think it's a Chinese proverb ~ there are different wording available to the quote, but they all mean about the same thing.

It's not a quote, but an aphorism.

If you love something/someone, set it free. If it returns, it was meant to be. If not, it was not.

hmmmmm.i always thought the end of the quote waas something like-if it doesn't come back,hunt it down and kill it.
