So a couple of years ago I was running out of a movie theatre and slipped on an ice cube and broke my front tooth in half. I went to the dentist and got it fixed. The tooth had broken off a couple of times in the past 3 years. But 2 weeks ago, I broke it while canoeing. I got it fixed, but my dentist told me if it broke again in the next month, I will need to do something permanent. Well, yesterday, I bit into a piece of crust on a pizza and it broke again. My father called the dentist and she said that I will need a tooth venner, a crown which wraps around the whole broken tooth. I am a little afraid of this procedure since I am having the procedure today and have never had anything like this. Can someone plese tell me what is going to happen?

A veneer doesnt wrap around the whole tooth. Thats a crown. A veneer is place over the front of the tooth kinda like an acrylic nail. They will get you numb and remove about 2 millimeters of the tooth all the way around. They will take an impression of the tooth that is left and this is what the dental laboratory uses as a guide to make a permenant crown. You will have a temporary until the permanent is made. If you get a well trained, experienced assistant the temp will hardly be noticable.

Well I Had this done a couple of years ago . It doesn't hurt at all . All it is a fake finger nail. All they do is give
you a shot. like when you get a root canal. and glue it down and use the blue light to dry it and than the dental Assiant come and cheeks it . To make sure it is all layed down . and smooth with no sharp edages . and than you are all ready to come home. hope this is helpful.

I have had two veneers done and a crown and it is not too bad at all as they numb you up. Also the cosmetic result is great! good luck!

It's just as easy as having a filling done. You'll be numbed and then you won't feel anything. Piece of cake.
