Well, if I've counted time zones correctly, I should wish you "Nactu buna," yes? :-)

I know a bit about Romania, partly from having a crush on Nadia Comaneci when she was in the Olympics (I heard her say "nactu buna" at the end of an interview), and partly from having read several books about Vlad Tepes, the historical "Dracula." I know that the city whose English name is Bucharest is called Bucuresti; the country used to be known variously as Wallachia and also Transylvania ("the country across the forest" in Latin). And the legendary Carpathian Mountains run through the country.

I can locate it on a map -- Bulgaria is to the south, with Hungary at its northwest border. I'm always surprised to learn that you have beaches on the Black Sea; the famous Danube River forms your southern border.

I could find more, but that would be cheating... :-)

Well, as to some facts, Bucharest is the capital ,the population those past two years suffered from extremely bad flows, which devastated lots of villages and left much people without home. We expect Romania to be accepted as a member of European Union in January 2007. We observe a very high migration of Romanians ,especially in Italy and Spain. The people are warm and of course it is very dependable. The Romanians I know are good and decent people. Cheers!

Well, shall I tell you about Romania and Romanians? I am Romanian by origin and speak Romanian very well, of course. What I really want to tell you is that Romanian is a Romance language (=that comes from Latin) just like French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and others. Most Romanians are orthodox, so Christians. Romania lies in the central-eastern Europe its relief being widely complex- mountains, hills, plains, sea (the Black Sea) and sandy beaches, delta (the Danube Delta) so the landscape is marvellous. If you ever go to Romania, you'll notice how welcoming, hospitable and friendly they are. Some Romanian words? "Bună!" (=Hello!), "Bun venit în România! (=Welcome to Romania), "mamă" (=mother), "tată" (=father), "familie" (=family), "prieten" (= boy friend), "prietenă" (=girl friend), "Mi-e dor de tine! (=I miss you!), "Te iubesc!" (=I love you!), "La revedere!" (=Goodbye!)

Are you Romanian yourself? Anyway, i can tell you that Romanian people like to dress up, eat and drink well and also like to party a lot.
They care about appearances a lot.
Romania is a pretty good country to live if you have a lot of money and you know your way around a little bit. And beware of the Roma people. They are everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe that it is a fascinating country. They are our slavic cousins from far away. Their language comes from the same origin as ours, and that makes it easy to understand.
For some reason, Romanian has kept much more of the original Latin than the other languages from the same source, but that makes it beautiful.
They had the courage of eliminating Ceaucescu and his wife before they could escape, and they had to pay ( with taxes, interests, tips, everything )
The early inhabitants, los Dacios, resisted the Roman invasion with great courage

I met a couple from Romania a few years ago and they told me that they were gypsies. They said that a large gypsy population lives in and around Romania. That's about all I know of the country.

I know the language belongs to the Romance language family. Gypsies are often thought to come from Romania as the Gypsy language is called Romany. I believe it is quite a poor country, and has many emigrants world-wide.
