We have to get from New York, New York (near Canal st) to the Bronx. Is there a way to get there using the trains? What's the best way?

Would catching a cab be too expensive?

Canal St is at the south end of Manhattan island and the Bronx is above the northern end. That is pretty far. Depending on where you go, I assume the cost would be at least $25! Go to mta.nyc.ny.us and download their bus and train maps. Several trains go to different parts of the Bronx, and depending on your destination, you may need a bus transfer to go further!

Well it really depends on where you are going in the Bronx. But you can take the Green Line from Canal Street and take it uptown to 14th Street Union square and just walk across the platform to catch either express trains going uptown... the 4 or 5 will take you to the Bronx... but different parts of the Bronx.

Subway is your best, cheapest and quickest option. There are a number of subways that go to the bronx, you just have to find the one that will take you to your destination.

Trains that go The Bronx are 1, 4, B, D, 2, 5, and 6.

if your relations is contained in the Bronx, they is generally wonderful. The worst about this typhoon must be the typhoon surge, and a tremendous variety of the Bronx isn't on the water. they'll likely lose electricity and perhaps they received't be in a position to call or digital mail for a lengthy time period, yet except that, they'll be wonderful.
