I grew up in Atlanta and its a great city. Its not at all like you see in the movies and on TV. That movie ATL - yes there are some hard neighborhoods in Atlanta but thats all people ever show of it, most of it is not like that. The suburbs and most of the city itself are very nice, very safe areas and there is a LOT to do. The music is incredible, you can see a great local band in a bar or a sold-out stadium show from a big name performer almost any time you want. Lots of sports teams to see, lots of history (well what Sherman didn't burn on his way to Savannah), they got a new aquarium that I heard is great. If you're going to college there you have your choice of literally dozens of good schools. Its all around a great place to live.

I was born and raised in Chicago but left to attend college elsewhere. I still regret that decision. There is a never-ending list of things to do in that city, and on top of that, there is also a plethora of places to get jobs and internships that would make you well-placed after graduation. I will admit, though, it is cold in the winter.

Chicago. It's a more real city. Atlanta is too spread out, and too hot and humid also. Chicago has better public transit also.

I would start by looking at the job opportunities. give one a try and then if you don't like the jobs try the other.
Are you from the north or south? does the snow bother you at all? it does snow but we haven't had much to talk about in decades. you may have one or two bad travel days.
