When we put my grandma in a nursing home, we made sure we cleared everything that we could out of her name. Her health had been declining rapidly and after what we think was a stroke (something the doctors deny) she pretty much was out of her head but not enough that she was proved unable to make decisions. We even moved everything out of her house because if they want to, they can seize the house and all the possessions in it and use them, via estate auctions and such, to pay for the person's stay. It's sad, but true.
