I have a friend who is in Australia for a year and i am considering visiting her for about 3 weeks. Do i need a visa? Do i need to keep lots of money in my bank account? (i don't mean for the flights and spending money) and if i go now for three weeks am i allowed to go back again when i want? I know that if you go work for a year you can only do that once, but if i have to get a visitor visa can i go back numerous times for holidays etc?

You don't state which country you are from, which makes advice giving hard.

Most likely, you require a visa called the ETA (Electronic Travel Authority).

See the reference I quote below.

You will be required to prove to immigration that you can support yourself on your stay. While there is no set amount for what that entails, turning up with only $1 with you is asking for big trouble.

You shouldn't have an issue with returning again one day, just read carefully through the rules associated with the form of visa you require.

If you are just visiting Australia for 3 weeks, your travel agent should be able to print your Holiday visa out for you.Because it's a short visit, there isn't a money limit you have to bring. You can change you departure date but most of the time it can cost a couple of hundred dollars to do so,and there is no real limit you can come to Australia for a holiday.I hope l was of some help.

If you are visiting for a holiday then all you need is a return ticket. Check with the Austrialian High Commision about the visa. I think you may but it is very cheap.
Unless you are planning to emigrate they are not interested in your funds.

Yes, you need a visa, an ETA usually organised by your travel agent and you need one every time you visit.

Full details of visas in the link.

Australia's generally cheaper than the UK and there's a good exchange rate at the moment, so you won't need too much money.

We are also visiting Australia and I have just completed the application for an ETA (Electronic Travel Authority) on-line which was really easy and the cost was A$20 each

Yes you can come visit - unless you are a serial murderer or something! You can do return visits, and I doubt that you need lots of money in your bank account, just enough to be able to keep yourself and a return ticket so you get home!
