there is not one brand that is really totally consumer oriented, or one thats totally pro oriented. however, it seems jvc isnt into the pro market as much as sony, canon, and panasonic are (and i know im forgetting someone). but that isnt a reason to buy jvc, because sony, canon, etc. also produce consumer level cams. so no offense, but this was a bad question, and its not your fault. some people do think brands have a huge impact on a camera, and it does, but its not "huge". i hoped this cleared some things up!

If you are asking about digital camera - Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Sony - all are good. I don't like Sony because they don't follow any standards. However their products are good.

Canon by far, If you have a sony they only want you to use sony lens, accesories etc
