I heard (outside of being an organization/church) that there is a status one can apply personally so that you don't have to participate into paying taxes. You would have to give up certain rights like voting and stuff of that nature. Anyone know or heard of this?

You can become exempt from US taxation by taking permanent residence in another nation, becoming a citizen there and giving up US citizenship. So in that sense you would become exempt from taxation by "giving up certain rights," as you have heard.

There are a number of organziations that claim to have the answer for how to avoid US taxation. The Internal Revenue Service eventually finds these "tax protesters" and prosecutes them. The tax protesters are all tried and convicted. The courts have absolutely no sense of humor about this.

You should assume all tax avoidance schemes offered to you are shams intended to steal your money.

I know you are exempt if you make under a certain amount of money.. Other than that i don't think that exists. The only people who lose their right to vote are convicted criminals.

Yeah it's called being broke. You are allowed to make a certain dollar amount each year that is tax exempt but you would live in poverty doing it.
