Let me share with you a story:
A woman approached Buddha and asked him, "Master, how do I attain happiness in life?" Buddha answered, "I can't tell you...you'll have to knock on every neighbour's door and ask them for an answer."

So the woman embarked on her journey in search of an answer for happiness. Every neighbour's door that opened to her wrought no answers to her question of happiness...her neighbours weren't in the mood to respond...every family had its own fair share of sorrow, tears and pain, some families had it worse.

That's when the woman realised that she had to be content with her lot and count her blessings.

You are aware of what you are blessed with in life. But look around you, a true person will only be happy if he/she gives. I love these words extracted from St Francis' prayer and I wish to share them with you, '...to be loved as to love with all my soul....in giving to all men that we receive.'

Perhaps, your life is at a juncture where you start asking yourself how else could I live my life? Perhaps....you could try living it for others? There are many people around you who need help...either in the form of a comforting word, an extra bun for the poor, an extra hand to help the helpless or a little room in your heart to love the unloved?

Believe me, you will find tremendous renewed meaning in life when you give yourself to others. There is a chinese saying, "To have the ability to give shows you are blessed with enough in life."

Life is not just the kids and grand kids and 4x4 land and all the other junk you mentioned. Its not the time to sleep its time to wake up actually. Not for yourself but for others. Just look around and you will find many many who need you just do some God's work and then tell us how do you feel? You have encaged yourself if you can't do some community work then just try to sperad the word of God! Happiness is guaranteed.

You're at the stage my grandparents are....do you ever seem to jump on the chance to do things anytime?? Just curious...anyway, I say that you need to get out some! I would say start with making a once a week shopping trip for just you and/or a friend to go and just be young again and not have the pains of boredom on your plate! Also find some good books if you like to read, jog, scrapbook all your old pictures, crochet, and also keep doing weird things in mind. Like snorkeling; sounds crazy but getting out and doing things that are definitely out of your comfort zone and seem to "young" for you will definitely keep ya moving and keep the boredom from coming out!

You need to join a club or do some volunteer work or you could spend sometime helping out with your grandkids. The new one coming would be a great one to spend lots of time with. I'm sure the mom would appreciate it a lot.

Try something new. How about archery? How about traveling and spending the night somewhere you've never been? Serving the needy, poor, a neighbor.

Just because you've gotten older doesn't mean your life's over. It's just a new chapter.

I could imagine you feel your life is a routine thing. But there is so many things you could do to change that, start by going out and doing fun things, not doing what you do now. If you feel bored of what the daily routine brings onto you, change and do the opposite, no matter what age you are get out there and have fun.

It sounds like now that all your kids are happy in their own partnerships etc you feel like you are lacking from the energy and excitement that once filled your home. perhaps taking up an interest like scrapbooking etc or joining a club that interests you...have you ever thought of studying something that interests you like history etc.

hopefully I've been some help :)

Do you work? You could volunteer somewhere, it will give a new meaning to your life and every night you'll actually feel like you did something nice.
