No lighters, you are however allowed two books of matches. Atleast you were, that seems to be changing constantly right now considering the circumstances of what is going on in London. Check the TSA's website daily, but lighters have been banned since April of 04.

There is no rule against cigarettes, however, since all flights are non-smoking then why carry them on-board? They will probably confiscate them and it will make your trip through security a long one. As for the lighter, you can not carry it on-board and you can only check the lighter if it contains no fuel.

Also, in light of the current events in London, contact your airline for more up to date information.

Your lighter would have had to go in your case anyway because of the gas it uses.

After this morning, you can only take personal documents and papers - everything else has to go in your case!

I work at the airport and i smoked until i got pregnant. If you MUST have a lighter it is easy as pie to get through security. Get the small lighter, or the plastic one and if you are a female stick it in your bra, if you are a male, idk put it somewhere.

If you are a selectee (SSSS ON YOUR BOARDING CARD) and a male try hard, you will get a patdown and your not wearing a bra so it might be hard. but if you have no other metal on you the metal detector wont ring off with a lighter. If it is closer to the center of your body it will work. ive done it millions of times. If you wish not to do that, you can take up to 4 books of matches.
but they cannot be the "strike anywhere matches"
have a good trip.

if you are traveling today, august 10. YOU MAY NOT HAVE AN LIQUIDS ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT WITH YOU TODAY! There was a terrorist threat and no liquids, water, ect. will be allowed on any aircraft today.

amazing!

Lighters were not allowed even before the latest events. And most airlines don't allow smoking anyway. So certainly not now!
