My gf still has contact with her ex.
I told her I didn't like it and a while back he told her he still loves her and wants her back.
(The have been apart for over 2 years)

I have been in the same position as you are now. Look there is always going to be a past from either party in a new relationship.
Why does he still keep in contact with his ex-girlfriend?
From my experience, the guy I was seeing showed me no respect whatsoever and said he didn't care how I felt each time he mentioned his ex-partner and that was each time he saw me.
I tried to break up with this guy twice, but he would woo me with "Your the one I wan't to be with my feelings for my ex are dead and buried". Then continue to discuss his ex got beyond the joke.
If your boyfriend pay's you respect, wan'ts to be with you by wanting to know about you and you communicate it is important to yourself that that you tell him how you feel. If he respects you and want's to be with you I'm sure he will cease contact but if not move on as you deserve better.

What kind of contact? How often?
You need to discuss it with your boyfriend, it could be that you are insecure about your relationship and just need to be reassured by him. If the contact is inappropriate and much too often then I would not be ok with it. Once, in a blue mood is fine.
He should respect your feelings if you are uncomfortable, but if they are just friends you should trust that he loves you and don't let your mind race with any crazy ideas. Hang in there.

My bf is still intouch with his ex as they have a baby together. He says he has no feelings for her whatsoever but its so difficult to get your head round. They dont get on anymore anyway but just tolerate each other for the sake of their daughter. It doesnt make things easier but my town is a small town where everyone knows each other so we just get on with it!
I would love to be friends with my ex boyfriend but we lost touch. Not to get back together, just to have a friendly chat over a drink one night - just remember - nothing has to happen with an ex - its only because their an ex we get jealous!

not look back. He's trying to play you not reliazing by you taking
