I know generally it's about mouth and sex, but many people don't go to swimming pools as well.
So, can I talk to my girlfriend? Can I play video games? Can I read novels?

dont be funny, of corz u can talk with your gf, play video games, read novels. if u r oruch(i dont know the english word) u have not to eat, do sex, do masterbate, watch porn movies, to lie till the night ezan. after iftar meal u may continue your normal life. i hope u know what i mean with normal life in islam? i mean drinking, using drugs, doing sex except your wife/husband, stealing, killing is forbidden in islam similar as the other religions. i have to add; doing sex with a gf is also forbidden in islam coz she is not your wife. i can see your face, dont worry, marry with her :)

On what thing specifically? During Ramadhan, you shouldn't do all the bad things, on what are you saying, thinking and doing. Yeah, some people don't go to swimming pools because men could see women with their swimsuit, and that's mean something evil thought will surely come up. They're just to becareful. In my opinion, you could talk to your girlfriend, but you should beware of your desire on her. You can play video games too or evenr ead novels. The important things are you could control yourself, have a clean mind and whatever you do, didn't have bad impacts to others or even yourself.

Do's and Dont's of Ramadan
Do's
1. Should Fast from sunrise to sunset.
2. Should offer all the prayers including Tarawih after Isha Prayer.
3. Recite Quran as much as possible. (Optional)
4. Ask for your forgiveness and salvation from Allah (swt) as given in hadees. (optional)

Dont's
1. Should not indulge in sex between the fasting period.
2. Should not let any food or water enter into your throat.
3. You can read anything, while in fasting, except those which seduce you.
4. You can talk to your girl friend until you get seduced. So better not to talk, as there are full chances of seduction.
5. As this is the month of encashing all the benefits from Almighty Allah, you must try to get forgiveness from all sins and pleade for salvation.

We can not do and think about all bad things including eating, smoking, hurting other people, too emotional and having sex desire. You can certainly go to swimming pools as far as you do not aim to drink the water purposely. You can also talk to your girlfriends, play video games and read novels as far as it will not causing you having sex desire. I think Ramadan is not to make your life difficult.

Eating, drinking and sexual intercourse are not allowed between dawn (fajr), and sunset (maghrib). During Ramadan, Muslims are also expected to put more effort into following the teachings of Islam by refraining from violence, anger, envy, greed, lust, angry and sarcastic retorts, and gossip. People are meant to try to get along with each other better than they normally might. All obscene and irreligious sights and sounds are to be avoided. Purity of both thought and action is important. The fast is an exacting act of deep personal worship in which Muslims seek a raised level of closeness to God. The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the inner soul and free it from harm.

Fasting during Ramadan is not obligatory for several groups for whom it would be excessively problematic. Children before the onset of puberty are not required to fast, though some do. However, if puberty is delayed, fasting becomes obligatory for males and females after a certain age. According to the Qur'an, if fasting would be dangerous to someone's health, such as a person with an illness or medical condition (this can include the elderly), that person is excused. For example, diabetics and nursing or pregnant women usually are not expected to fast; they are encouraged to feed a needy person instead[1]. According to hadith, observing the Ramadan fast is not allowed for menstruating women. Other individuals for whom it is usually considered acceptable not to fast are those in battle and travelers who intend to spend fewer than five days away from home. If one's condition preventing fasting is only temporary, one is required to make up for the days missed after the month of Ramadan is over and before the next Ramadan arrives. If one's condition is permanent or present for an extended period of time, one may make up for the fast by feeding a needy person for every day missed.

If one who does not fit into one of the exempt categories breaks the fast out of forgetfulness, the fast is still valid. If, however, one intentionally breaks the fast, that individual must continue fasting for the remainder of the day but then make up for the entire day later. If one breaks the fast through consensual sexual intercourse, the trangressor must make up for the day by fasting for sixty consecutive days.

yes of course you can do those things.Only don't forget the main topic of it.To control yourself.

They may tell you not to go to a swimming pool, because you may swallow water,or not to be your girlfriend because you may not control yourselves etc..They are not exactly restricted.
