You are gaining muscle not fat!!! Brisk walking is a good way to keep your heart rate in the "fat burning zone"..you burn an optimum number of calories at this range of heart rates. And as you know when you work the muscles you burn the fat. You should notice that your clothes fit better in a few weeks, especially your jeans. You might want to get some free weights to work out your arms separately, because walking doesn't do too much for them. Good luck!!
Kudos to you for keeping you and your family healthy!!!!

this is normal
Unfortunately you haven't really gained to much muscle, but now your body is on lock down (storing your fat) because of the cut out of sweets and snacking and it's scared. KEEP IT SCARED!!
So retaining the old fat and gaining of the new muscle is what you are seeing.
Keep up the good work with fast walking and increase the miles also, drink a ton of water and you will start dropping a pound or two a week. I know this seems slow but consistency is key.
good luck

Yes, it is normal to gain weight because muscle weighs more than fat and you are replacing fat with muscle by exercising. Pretty soon, even if the scales don't show it, your clothes will start becoming more loose.

you're gaining muscle! it weighs more than fat, yeah it would be normal to weigh more before you lose, cause as you keep gaining muscle and burning some fat the weigh goes up more, it may or may not go down once you've burned off more fat.
Don't judge yourself by the scale, judge it by the clothing and measurments. Clothing is best.

it could be your metabolism. since ur metabolism is use to lots of food and now that u r changing ur diet. ur body is trying to turn as much fat from whatever ur eating now when it gets hungry. you could try eating more meals but less food that way u dont go hungry and so ur body doesnt try to make the most out of that food and turn it into fat. this is just my opinion.

You are either loosing fat and gaining muscle, or you are turning fat into muscle. Either way, muscle is heavier than fat. Don't worry and carry on.
