I don't know about the treason issue but I'd like to say the following:
1. The fact that we've abolished capital punishment is testimony to our being civilised. I refuse to become a murderer (either directly or through the state) out of revenge. Try not to sink to the same level as the terrorists. It is in the respecting of values and ideals (such as abolishing capital punishment) even in hard times, that truly separate people of character and humanity from those devoid of these qualities.
2. On the issue of home grown terrorism I say that it is up to immigrants to integrate into the societies that welcome them and find other, more democratic and acceptable ways of expressing greivances and disagreements. At the same time I say to Brits, that we have to ask ourselves the difficult question as to why people born and bred here still feel so little part of our society that they can attack it. We all know that racism and intollerance exacerbate proper integration and we must make sre that all our citezens feel so much apart of the society that it becomes unthinkable to attack it. We ca all play a part in this each one in a little way.
As always in these situations, the answer is complicated and requires that all sides engage in honest self evaluation.

Treason per se has not carried the death sentence for a long time. High treason still, in theory, carries a sentence of death but is aimed at protecting the royal family.
Bizarrely enough, damaging or vandalising a ship of her majesty's fleet (ie the navy) also constitutes high treason and can be punishable by death.

Treason is a crime against the Queen, not the country itself. Eg plotting to over throw the monarchy. I always get confused between corporal and capital punishment. Capitals death right? If so, yes i believe they should, but they will not be allowed to under Article 5 (i think it is) of the European convention of Human Rights, which is complete bollocks if you ask me. The only way we could bring back the death sentence is if we left the EU which would have a damning affect on our economy.

I think (and I am not sure) but treason is still the only offence which is punishable by capital punishment. But it may only be treason against the Queen.
Just checked - and this was changed in 1998. sorry for any confusion.

I don't care if it's treason or not, they should face capital punishment.
They were trying to kill innocent people because of their stereotypical generalised opinions of us - apparently, us women are all slags - actually we're just liberated and don't feel the need to walk around in a sheet because we're equal and not lesser beings.
They're stupid and backward and have misinterpreted their own religion.
Why don't we punish them as they'd be punished in a muslim country - beheading perhaps?

Treason? Absolutely.
My initial reaction when I see these types is they deserve death, but that may very well be the easy way out for them. They still get their martyrdom.
Spending the rest of their lives in a box sounds more justified.

There are reasons for the fact UK nationals try to engage in terror acts against their country. I think when ether Prince William or Prince Harry becomes king of Britain, no UK national will engage in terrorist actions against the UK.

Yes to trying them for treason, no to bringing back capital punishment - you don't want to make them into martyrs.

No, it is just your fault you gave UK nationality to all sorts of people -which of course happened because that served UK well after the commonwealth. When I was in London last, there was no native English person cleaning the street, or working in the underground, etc. Having "slaves" costs! In Greece, we always complain about the Albanians who are the cause for the increase in thefts and so on. Well, everyone hires them to do the dirty jobs though (cleaners, workers, farmers...)!
Plus, these people are suicide bombers - do you think they are afraid of death?

security official should have the ultimate power to screen everyone living in this country, it wont be popular but i get fed up to the back teeth on hearing british nationals try to blow this and that up, they are the enemy in our midst, and what doesnt go through the comb to the ultimate satisfaction of the security, then put them out of the uk permanently. alternately LIFE in prison,
