I was going to make a joke about a can of peas under the bed but I won't. Ha. You could take a big round hook screw and screw it in the ceiling above the center of your bed, drape some shear material from corner to corner like an X or some kinda way. Fan it out to in close the bed, or tie it open if you like. Attach it to the wall on the bottom with an attractive piece of wrought iron or something unique. It would take a lot of material I'm sure. That would work I think. Here are some much better ideas than mine. Hope I helped!

All those ideas sound cheap and easy. It should work...
But remember anything draped over your bed will restrict air flow - if you live in a warm climate, wait alittle until the Fall...
And dust will collect on that canopy really fast. Whatever you put up, should be easy enough to take down and shake out/wash occassionally.
Small decorative lights look pretty woven into a canopy. With the holiday season approaching, you'll have lots of choices..

Saw this on the Home channel. Start with a round something on the ceiling, like a frame, and attach a bunch of fabric to it with a staple gun so it floats down over the bed like a canopy. Hard to explain but check the DIY (or whatever it is) channel or internet site.

Along with eye hooks and rings you can take some 1 x 4 pine or larger and nail it to the ceiling. First take some blocks and nail them to the ceiling so you can attach the pine then you can hang the canopy material on the inside of the molding. You could paint or stain the wood or do whatever you feel like doing.
Good luck

You can put hooks in the ceiling , either above the corners or whatever size you want. Then run hardware line, which is a coated wire, won't strech, make loops at the end to go onto the hooks. Then you can use curtain panels run right on the line, drape fabric over or use curtain or shower hooks, whatever matches your decor the best. I did this with colered netting I bought yards and yards of for my daughters room and it turned out great

Unless you want to hang the canopy some way from the ceiling, you'll have to fashion your four post first from something. Good Luck and God Bless!

You could either buy one of the pretty mosquito nets that hang from the ceiling OR hang 4 curtain rods from your ceiling and use shower curtain rings to hang sheer or non sheer drapery panels.
I like the sheer ones and they come in a LOT of different colors.

Place 4 or more anchor hooks ( upside down ?) in the cieling, attach light wieght fabric (lace, sheer).
I would setup a small model to make sure you get it setup the way you wont the first time. i.e tack up your fabric under a large sheet of cardboard, or even the underside of your dining room table. Get the fabric to fall the way you want, and set it up.

I had a friend who hung big metal rings from the ceiling at each corner of her bed and one in the middle. She pulled sheer fabric through it so it hung over the bed, and it was very pretty--romantic looking.
