All Religions march towards a common unity of people for their well-being on this earth. Ironically, all that is established in the name of good or God tends to segregate rather than integrate people, defeating the very purpose for which they have been set up. The responsibilitty and accountability therefore fall squarely on all people. When will the people end the cold wars for God's sake? There is far more disunity than unity which is unable to resolve the former. It is high time people went beyond the languages.

I think "Big E" is partially correct, people are often by nature very competitive, especially in a group mindset. It seems to work a lot like a mob or a stampede. Everybody following the flood and being driven in one direction without asking why.

"Airborne" seems to think it's about Christianity versus everybody else... but even the Christians are divided. Open any phone book in any major city... how many different denominations of "Christian" churches are there? 10? 20? more?? I've lost count! Even the "Christian" churches can't agree on the "truth" and they compete with each other for parishioners.

I think another big part of the issue is that most religions - Christianity too - have the belief that anyone that doesn't believe the same as them, even on the nitpicky theological details, is going to hell. Variations in beliefs aren't okay, cuz somebody has to be wrong, and nobody wants to admit that they might be the one that's wrong.

Too bad they all don't invest more of that passion into "walking the walk" instead of judging and badgering each other for being on even a slightly different path. :)

Well, I disagree that all religions are based in a unifying force. They may want to bring a unification of ideals and/or philosophy, but they each hold different assertions. Therefore, different religions at best tolerate each other, and some do not tolerate the others well. Like if I say that Love should be the ultimate goal of every religion, there would be religions that disagree. Christ Jesus does make bold assertions in being the Son of God who takes away the sin of the world. No one else makes these claims and proves His love by dying on the cross, and predicts he will rise in three days, and actually does just that. There is no other book like the Bible. There is no other Lord than our Heavenly Father. However, there is one who lifted His ugly head in an attempt to draw the attention to himself and that was Satan. He is the great deceiver and he wishes to turn many souls away from God, so people become apathetic if they listen to his line of thinking -- lies. Satan wants to destroy all God has in store for humans as he is jealous of the great love God has for us. God does not endorse wars which mankind creates, you are right in not blaming God. Yet you are not right in saying "It is high time people went beyond the languages." which is reminiscent of an old thought that man striving on his own alone will achieve good; The Tower of Babel did not either.

History has shown that it is Christianity that has been most tolerant of other religions, as proved by the founding fathers of USA. Ironically, Christianity which teaches tolerance of people of all faiths is the one religion that is not tolerated speaking about in public schools, for example.

That shouldn't be so.

A lot of people fail to realize that their religion is not the only right one or the only one that is around. These people think they are right or that there is only one religion or only one God. In America there are so many different religions despite what the Christians or others think. Historically, Christianity is a new religion while many of the older ones are still going strong. Also some believe in no Gods or many Gods because there is not just one God. The only person who is right about all of this is the person who is kind on the inside, despite what religious path they believe. The ignorant ones fail to realize that others religions are just as good and important as theirs. It is time these ignorant people give it up and accept all faiths for they are not the say all.

You obviously do not understand what world religions actually teach. Christianity for example teaches that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who came into this world as a man, and that He is the only way a person can enter heaven. Islam rejects that claim and states that Jesus was only a mere prophet, but not divine. Christianity teaches salvation by grace through faith, Islam teaches that a person must do certain things in order to gain eternal life. Buddhism and Hinduism teach that man is cappable of attaining enlightenment, nirvana, ect... whereas Islam, Judaism, and Christianity state that man is unable to do this, and the three monotheistic religions reject the notion of reincarnation. Hinduism has many, many, gods and goddesses, thousands and thousands. This is not reconcialable with Islam, Judaism and Christianity.
The Jewish people reject the doctrine that Jesus was God's Son.
The thing is that each religion makes certain claims that are foundational to said religion, those claims, if proven false, would cause the religion to be false, and thus the religion would topple.
Some people are not willing for that to happen, because their religion gives certain people a great deal of power, and authority. Millions of Muslims will willingly die and kill for their cause if an Imam can show them where it is Allah's will within the Qu'ran.
Millions of Christians will willingly die for their cause if they believe that the Bible teaches such.
There can be no peace among religions until one has been shown to be the irrefutable truth, or all have been shown to be irrefutably false

Christ didn't come to unify people, but to drive a wedge between father and son, mother and daughter, husband and wife. If the one chooses to follow him while the other either do not do so, or just claim to be doing so, than the true believers have to be split from the rest, Like separating the goats form the sheep. True Christians are unified on their beliefs, but religions today are not only un-unified in their beliefs from each other, but even from one congregation to another within the same religion. Look at the recent disputes with the Baptists and the Presbyterians. Look how many religions have split into segments, such as Mormons and Jack Mormons. Find a religion where you can go from one congregation to another, anywhere on the planet, and not only do you find the same teachings, but find friendly caring people....Find a religion where they have existed for 25, 50, or 100 years, without a large segment of them splitting off to create their own faith....Find a religion that not only knew where "EVERY ONE" of its members were during Hurricane Katrina, and had them evacuated and in homes in Texas within hours....and you will know you are with a religion that is unified under Christ.

People prefer starting wars in name of religion, rather than keeping the peace. It seems easier to claim knowing the truth and to defy others than to try and seek a mutual universal understanding. People seem to forget the bottom line: thou shall not kill, thou shall treat thy neighbours right. All the ground rights seem to be forgotten and what really seems to matter is ethics and rituals. How many times you need to pray for example, how to call God and what to call God. Once you step out of line in your own little religious community or homogeneous group, one way or the other, you are casted away. Religiousness comes from the heart and from the inside, it is not about showing it to the outside world. By behaving properly and by being clean, mentally as well as physically you give an example to others. The message in all religions is the same: treat yourself and the ones around you fairly and honestly and you will be blessed: the rest is just etiquette and of minor importance.

Muslim, Christian and Jewish believers,

Let’s Act All Together for Love, Peace and Brotherhood and Respect the Faiths.

All prophets are very beautiful people.

Their disposition, morals and attitudes are excellent. They are exemplary people, who are most respected and loved.

Any inappropriate language directed towards them disturbs all believers. It is unreasonable to explain away any such contrary attitudes by the excuses of “democracy” or “tolerance.”

From the Qur’an, as well as the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, we know that throughout history, unbelievers seemed to mock and slander God’s blessed messengers. However, the Qur’an foretells the miserable end of those who try to ridicule God’s messengers, with these words: “Messengers before you were also mocked, but those who jeered were engulfed by what they mocked.” (Qur’an, 6: 10)

Jesus (peace be upon him) is also one of the Islamic prophets highly praised in the Qur’an. In one verse, the Qur’an states that people also attempted to mock Jesus (pbuh) in the time of our Prophet (may God bless him and grant him peace):

When an example is made of the son of Mary [Jesus], your people laugh uproariously. (Qur’an, 43: 57)

Religion has never ever been a unifying force, because every idiot believes he is right and everyone else is wrong, despite the fact that NO ONE can prove even the existence of God let alone haggle over the details.

Every religion believes that they are right and the others are wrong, and every person going to another church, is one taken away from you, and we are competitive people. Plus for some i'm sure money counts, the more people you have, the more cash is being donated to you.

Religion is not a unifying force. Jesus Christ is the only one who brings unity. All other religions defile a person.
