As a student of the Book of Mormon I have found a lot of cool things about the Book of Mormon.
There is a distinct way that the semetic write, and it has been discovered in the BoM.
Any one who says it is of the Devil has not read it, if it was of the devil then would it contain things like this.
Helaman 5:9, "O remember, remember, my sons, the words which king Benjamin spake unto his people; yea, remember that there is no other way normeans whereby man can be saved, only through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, who shall come; yea, remember theat he cometh to redeem the world.

I'm a member of the LDS church, but I've been inactive for the past few years. The Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ -- Mormon missionaries like to explain the Gospel of Jesus Christ as a door with the Book of Mormon and the Bible being the two hinges which the door rests on.
The Book of Mormon is about a lost tribe of Jews who migrated from Israel to the New World by ship in 600BC. The Book of Mormon is about these people and the interactions they had with each other and with God. The Book of Mormon describes Jesus visiting these peoples after the Resurrection. Mormon archaelogists believe the civilizations described in the Book of Mormon were probably located in Central America, in the area of Guatamala.
The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, had many ancient authors and was written in Reformed Egyptian. Mormons believe that Joseph Smith, who lived back in the 1830's, was a Prophet of God who was given golden tablets by the angel Moroni as well as a seer stone, I believe if memory serves me right. On these golden tablets were written the Book of Mormon, which Joseph Smith translated into English before giving the tablets back to be stored in heaven.
And by the way, sometimes people question why the golden plates were given back to be stored in heaven when their existence would be strong proof of the Book of Mormon's veracity. However, what one needs to understand is that the early Mormons faced intense persecution and the tablets would have undoubtedly been stolen and desecrated given the atmosphere at the time.

Well, here's what I know.
I was raised Mormon. I have read it all the way through, with study, at least twice, and studied different aspects of it many times. I left the Mormon church as a teenager because I don't believe in their doctrines. If anything, my best answer for The Book of Mormon is that it is another testament to Christ. He stated in the New Testament that he had other people he needed to go minister to, so that fits the bill, if that's how you want to see it. I was told if you read it and pray about it with a sincere and open heart, you will know it's true. I did read it, and I did pray, but I am still unsure if it's the real deal.
If you want a brief synopsis, the best I can tell you is it's about the native peoples that lived in the Americas at the time of Christ, and how their lives changed once he came to them to teach them.
It is interesting to note that part of what made the European conquest of the New World easier is the fact that native oral tradition told of a God with white skin who came to them in the distant past, and said he would return again; they received the conquistadores thinking they were emissaries from this God, and we all know how that turned out.

The Book of Mormon contains many plagiarisms of the King James English (at least 25,000 words). This is strange since the plates were supposed to have been in the ground many centuries before the King James Bible was completed in 1611!
The Book of Mormon also contains many errors such as claims of elephants in the Western Hemisphere and advanced metal producing capabilities in America before 400 A.D.

What little bit of it I read I found quite disturbing and as a Christian filled with the Holy Spirit, I actually felt the need to destroy it as a work of the devil to mislead the truth from Jesus Christ, the only begotten son of God. As I continued to try to pray and read with an open mind, I very simply could not and finally came to the conclusion it was not of God. This was in the early 90's. A year ago, I was again given the Book of Mormon and again I attempted to read it with an open mind and in spiritual guidance and prayer and again I felt the mere presence of it in my home was as though I had invited Satan himself to be a dinner guest with honors. I immediately destroyed the book and the peace of my home returned. I will never accept another one. As a Christian I have to rely on the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom and discernment of the spirits, both good and evil, and I find the Book of Mormon to continually come up evil. The first time was in an early stage of my Christianity and this last time was in a much more mature stage of my growing Christianity. As the Mormon church is a large organization in our community, I often encounter their works and deeds and they are quite noble, but when I pray about what I may or may not contribute, I am ever turned back from contributing anything at all - my time, talents, or money. The Lord always redirects me to the church and to his word for confirmation. This has been my personal experience. So, I actually know very little of the contents of the book, I just know the spiritual ramifications of holding it and trying to read it - and my spirit will not let me.

A family from Israel travelled to America in middle ages, at God's command. They lived there for a while and were killed off by indians, but not before their records and teachings were inscribed on golden plates and hidden.
In 19'th century, plates were discovered and translated by John Smith. He was then instructed by God to dispose of the plates so they can never be seen by another human.
Now please share the correct answer in additional info or best reply feedback. I am watch'ing this.

Well, I'm non-Mormon, living in Utah. I can't get a free book to save my life. I would like to browse it, and learn a little about what makes a Mormon excited about their religion. I'm not gonna buy one though.
Sorry, not an answer to your question, but I had to say something! lol
Maybe an LDS person will read this and send me one!!
