I am listening to the news on BBC and cannot believe the stupidity of some of the people moaning about what they are now having to do with their hand lugagge, i.e pack it into their main luggage.
Maybe if some of the graphic photographs of the aftermath of the three main terrorist attacks were put up around the airport they would realise just what the potential is and that being asked to not carry onto a plane a back packed with items they won't really need is only a minor inconvenience, being dead is a big inconvenience!

In Jersey airport it was reported that businessman were miffed about having to check in their laptops! What do they think they are on about? What does a terrorist look like, surely any potential terrorist will be dressed to blend in, and a laptop is ideal for triggering devices! Why are they wasting their companies money anyway where there are such alternatives as video conferencing to use?

i suppose it is instant reaction to having repack and put most of the things you usually take in cabin, in the hold, but after first reaction most level headed people know its for their safety and accept it as the age we are living in,its not come as a surprise, there have been warnings for a few weeks now, eventually one of these guys will slip through security, and then who knows. so help security officials at all times, they have a pretty intense job to do.

The people currently at the airport did not know about the foiled plot when they left home so they now have to make other arrangements with their luggage - of course they're narked, they're already tired from travelling to the airport. It is the small inconveniences that matter - they stop you from living your life while you're alive. Being dead is a state not an inconvenience.
The main effect terrorism has and has always had on the UK populus is inconvenience. We're not the kind of people to get panic stricken - think back to July 7th - the main effect was to disrupt the transport system making it more inconvenient not to send people fleeing in fear.
Showing graphic photographs would be an attempt (and a pretty sick one) to stimulate a climate of fear. If that came about then these current terrorists would have achieved something.
Look at history - The IRA's only real affect was to get all luggage lockers and waste bins permanently removed from UK stations - now everywhere still has a lot of litter and tourists have to lug their heavy bags everywhere. It'll be the same for this lot, all that they will achieve is something similarly insignificant but annoying and people will soon get used to the new arrangements.

I have not forgotten but let's just say that they're taking some of this TOO far...yes I appriciate security but on a 14+ hour plane ride I'd rather have my laptop and a book to read instead of just books or something....
God bless America and all the people that died on 9/11...all gave some, some gave all

I completely agree with you. How people moan about their security, it's insane. Imagine if someone said to you, you can either check your luggage or have a strong chance of being killed. I think there is a clear choice here and it's a shame people are willing to sacrifice other's safety for an iPod or mobile.

You raise a good question. No I have not forgotten how I felt that day (9/11) and I understand why the airports are so invasive. Our familiy members are currently fighting for our freedom and I know exactly why. I'll never forget.

because people are ignorant and selfish. they think that they dont look like a terrorist and that all terrorists are muslims (although so far all terrorists have been muslim it doesnt mean that a white person cant be a muslim or a british psycho cant be a terrorist). they think that they are above others and should be respected rather than all treated the same. if they dont agree with it then they should just not fly.
