i dunno why but ppl seem to think that muslims women are being mistreated. they are not allowed to do this and that. as a muslim woman i feel very free to do wat ever i like. i cover my hair bacause i want to. if i dun want to then i ll not do it and no man can beat me for that. of course once i get married i hav to consult the issue w my husband 1st.
im studying engineering in the international islamic uni, i go to workshop and fix things, i play futsal every weekend, i watch movies whenever i want to, i can debate any issues with the guys, i can go to the cafe and start debating about the issue of environment, socials, politics etc and no one can ask me to stop. i am treated equally, juz like other men women in this world.
instead i feel the non muslims are treating us with bias. they dun let women wearing head cover go to their schools, work in their offices etc.
why? why do ppl look at us with pity? we are not stupid, we are capable of doing everything that we want.

''Can you marry to many men where the men can have many wifes...? is this called fair? ''
yes rather than let him have sex without being married to that woman. like some husbands like to do, secret affairs, or not so secret affairs.

Because what most people know about Islam (or any religion or belief system other than their own )comes from the media and movies, rather than personal investigation. And the media does not report anything that isn't sensational. It is not sensational to report that Muslim woman are held in high regard in most Muslim communities, just like Christian women. Rather it is more sensational to report that (some)Muslim women are treated as property. The same way many people are against Christain woman because the Bible says we are to submit to our husbands, they don't bother to find out the meaning or the context they just focus on the one word. People are always afraid of what they don't understand. And the most common response to fear is anger.

Do I see Christian women competing men in Olympics?
Do I see Christian men giving birth to babies?
And these question apply to anyone who says a religion is oppressing women.
I believe that God created the nature then why would His law would degrade one of his best creation?
There are roles for men and women in Islam and none of them makes one more superior than the other.
It's like a car, all 4 wheels have to be on their right spots or car wouldn't run correctly, if one thinks that degrading someone then I don't know what to say.
It's like having a class with 20 students in an exam or test of 20 questions.
Only 2 get 18 out of 20 right. But one gets 4 and 8 wrong and other gets 9 and 18 wrong.
They both are equally smart in the sense they both have the highest score but just because one got 4 and 8 wrong doesn't mean that person is the dumbest person in the class.

assalam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu sister,
even im doin a post grad in biochem and i have been wearin a hijab since age of 9 on my own interest. and yes people have told me that i carry bombs under my hijab. well i have forgiven them.
atleast i am safe from the hungry, malicious eyes of abusers that roam hungrily over a woman's body. thank god for that.
and as for ur answer, those people are ignorant. they have never seen this world wif open eyes. and have never accepted people the way they are.
they have gender bias in their own countries. they say women are liberal and free but thats not the thruth.
how many women in their parliment are really authoritative?
even if they are there, they are just dummies. they hardly hav a single woman president. when pakistan had Benazir Bhutto.
they say women are respected, but they themselves know they treat women like objects of sex and make porn.
they say they respect children and are kind to them, but they are involved in child porn too.
but they are out here to save the women across the globe. wat a joke? really pity those people.

Sometimes it is dealing with the Muslim men that makes one pity the women.
When Muslim men show disrespect for non-Muslim women (and not all of them do this; just enough to make it seem universal) most people assume that this is how they treat Muslim women as well.

I think part of it is what we hear about . A number of months back I read about the local muslim leaders(the one's who settled disputes). In particular the case about the little girl ordered raped by male members of the "wronged" family. or the nutcase guy who slit the throats of all his daughters..and made his wife watch.I also remember seeing a story about a "trial" of a woman accused of adultry. She had to lick a hot ladle heated in red hot coals. If her tongue DIDN'T blister she was innocent, if her tongue DID blister she was guilty. Granted these are extreme cases. But maybe this might give some insight to you.

I generally try not to make assumptions about people. I used to have two really close Muslim female friends. Both were very outspoken and opinionated. I loved that. (Even had a crush on one of them)
Anyway, people just assume that because of the hijabs. People will see that Muslim women are not like that, if they open their eyes . . . and right now people aren't willing to do that.

I'm a Muslim and I don't think Muslim women are reserved, timid, stupid or anything.
I think they are intelligent, brave, strong and leaders of their communities. They are the hope for our future and the pride of our history. MashaAllah, may Allah bless all of the Muslim women.

i'm not against religious people , but please stop talking about your religion..
i really bored about that a lot.
don't try to explane people how peaceful your religion is, how feel free you are...
i'm so sorry but if you lived without religious rules, you would see that there's lots of things that you haven't done yet.
i live in a muslim country.i know the people like you very well.
live your Allah love inside, don't show this...
Religion is one of the reason to start lots of bad things.
it's better not to talk about this more.
P/S:In my country no one can go to school with head cover, no one can work in public places with head cover, there's no doctor or teacher with head covers..
