Yes - any movement uses energy, and any time we use energy, we burn calories. We are always using energy (for breathing, circulation, digestion, etc.) We even burn calories in our sleep!

Small movements like moving your fingers, typing, etc. do not burn significant amounts, however. Think of it this way - you'd have to spend hundreds of minutes typing to burn the same number of calories that you would walking across the room.

Moving your fingers burns very few if you're sitting down, moving your arms and legs depending what muscles you are using can burn calories, running or playing sports are very good at burning calories, the best thing to do is lower your calorie intake.

Not a stupid question. I have wondered that myself. I don't think it will burn any more calories than that of your basic life processes, like breathing for example, or chewing gum (not a life process, but oh well).

You really need to work your heart at the same time, and that requires weight lifting or aerobic exercise.

You may be gaining calories if there is any food, or a drink other than water next to you.

No question is ever too stupid. Yes, they burn calories but in very small amounts. Think of running is like a level 5 calorie burner and moving ur fingers to play the piano is a level .0001 calorie burner. Thanks for the question!!

of course your arms and legs moving burns calories... your fingers on the other hands... not so sure about that one... has to have physical exertion to be considered a burn in my eyes.

Everything you do (even sitting) burns calories. The more you move, the more calories you burn.
