Okay, so I have long waist-length, black hair and a high and strangely-shaped forehead. When I go to school, I usually tie it up in a ponytail, but it makes my head look huge, and my forehead even worse. I'd like to try and get a different style before school starts. I'm not keen on getting bangs, also my mom wont allow it. Is there anything else I can do? I've been told to layer my hair, but I have no idea what that means. Here's a picture of my forehead, if it'll help : http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/5340/foreheadnn2.jpg

That's a picture of Mischa Barton. I'd like to get something like that. Is her hair "layered"? Oh, and I have an oval face.

layering your hair means having it cut in different lengths. You can still keep the length of your hair but have layers that start at your shoulders. I think long layers will help add more style to your hair. As for your forhead situation, I'm not sure what to do if you can't have bangs, they would hide your problem.

layering your hair will not help your forehead. you could always try taking a little bit of the front of your hair and putting it into a clip and push it towards your forehead and then put it in a ponytail. you can also try parting your hair on the side . try lowering where the pony starts(of course with a part on the side) and leaving a couple strands of hair at the front that are cut around your face. anymore questions , just email

I don't get why your mom won't let you get bangs, but she will let you layer your hair. HMMMM???? Bangs would cover what you feel is a problem, even a long angled side bang would work. Good luck.
