To my Christian brothers and sisters, self injury, also known as self mutilation and cutting, is increasing amoung young people. The enemy is using this to attack our youth. Statistics say 1 and 3 self injure. I use to be in bondage to it but GOd has delivered me. We did a show about it on a local Christian network and I was surprised at how many young Christians are involved in this. The enemy is trying to destroy a generation, we must do something.

The Bible talks about people having demons and cutting them self. Self injury, depression and many other things are caused by spirits. Religion a myth...maybe. But God is real and I have a real relationship with Him. I went to therapist, took their happy pills, but nothing work until I called on the NAme of Jesus. Yes doctors and therapist have their place, but when all else fails.... there is God.

This has become a major issue that is highly overlooked - especially as tattooes have become ever so popular and the pain ratio has risen to accomodate; so cutting to feel any amount of anything is beginning to soar to epidemic levels. It is a loud cry for a filling of the soul and only Jesus can bring the peace and filling that is needed. Christianity has become such a pop-cult with its charismatic, emotionally-charged hype that many do not truly have salvation and the Holy Spirit to lead them and because they see those around them that do, they feel this is their only way to reach that same peak they see in their friends. We were warned in scriptures that as the church became paganistic, which cutting is very paganistic in its origin, that we would know the church was false. We have become a nation of false churches and it is very difficult to find a church that will teach the truth of Jesus Christ and the sincerity that he came with and that he gives and that we are to serve in. christiancourses.com has an excellent training called SoulCare that teaches how to communicate the desire of the Lord and then the sins will be fixed, as opposed to our traditional approach of fix the sin and then introduce the Lord - I have found this tool to be an exceptional means of counseling and working with people from the inside out - which is a novel approach to psychology and its methods which have to date led us to dig into the person - disregarding the need to fill a soul first and in that filling the "clutter" has no where to be so it comes out. Given that there are so few genuine Christian counselors and psychologist in the professional arena, it is no wonder we see the rise is cutting, even within the "church". Filled souls know no clutter. That is what we must do. The enemy cannot destroy the soul if we can but fill it with the Lord - who cares what he tries to do to the body. It will fix itself if the soul is taken care of.

Personally I have always seen cutting in the same light as I see addiction to drugs or alcohol..They are both self destructive ways to cope with bad thoughts or feelings,A way to escape when reality becomes to much..Most people that are true cutters dont do it for attention most often going to great lengths to hide what they are doing(eg: long sleeved shirts and pants when its 100 degrees outside). They are usually ashamed of their actions but lack the skills needed to cope with problems in other ways..Just the same as an addict often self medicates..As someone else said the fact that its been 3 months since you last cut is a HUGE accomplishment..If you were an addict in AA or NA you would be receiving a chip for this..So I truly applaude you for your progress..As far as the people around you when they say something about it just respond with "thats something I am just not comfortable discussing with you so if you would refrain from asking me about this or talking with others about this then I would really appreciate it." What ever you do dont feel as if you have to justify or defend anything to any of these people. It truly is NONE of their business and you arent being rude or nasty to point it out to them..You are only accountable to YOURSELF for your actions..Just make sure that if you do begin back on the SI road to make sure to keep the areas clean and apply neosporin to prevent infection...I wish you alot of luck sweety and have faith that you will make it through this difficult time in your life..**Hugs**

I used to be a 'cutter.' I started when I was about 14 years old. I'd seen someone do it in a behavioral facility that I was sent to, and when they sent me back home, I started cutting. It was my cry for help, a means of releasing personal anguish, that I could control. My life was so out of my control; this was the one thing I had. That sounds crazy, but in the hormonal mind of a disturbed teenager, it was perfectly logical.
I kept cutting off and on for years. As an adult, I did it rarely....usually when something happened that was really bad, and it seemed like no one cared and I just wanted someone to care....I hid it most of the time. I've had all kinds of excuses about cats and car wrecks....it's sad. It took a guy walking in the bathroom while I was cutting my arms to straighten me up. I really liked the guy....but I was going through a lot at the time, and thought it'd make me feel better. The guy basically told me that he really cared about me, but I had more issues than he wanted to deal with so a relationship was out of the question. And who could blame him?
I took a step back and looked at it from an outsider's perspective, and it does seem crazy. I think that's part of the appeal for teenagers....it's something that holds shock value...like tattoos and body piercings. The only way to truly help is to offer support and kindness and a lot of care to those individuals who cut.

I did it as a teen as well but it is often because of emotional or physical trauma or abuse. I was sexually abused. This was an attempt to feel anything. These children need psychological help as well as prayers. God gave us both ministers and doctors. If you have found healing where ever you have received it then definitely thank God.

All religions are a myth so try using logic, only you can save your self, please seek a professional person who is specialised in this type of behavior not a religious person. Having some sort of religious faith is healthy but you need the pros. Good luck:)

I did it the first year of college. I probably had some adjustment trouble plus I was fascinated with Amazons (I cut over one of my breasts). My friends were freaked so I stopped.

Wasn't cutting mentioned in Kings in relation to demon worship of some sort? Or human sacrifices?
I know of someone who was doing this. I don't know what to do besides pray...I always assumed it had some relation to sexual abuse or something...

I refuse to make any comment on the subject for fear of being reported. However, I don't think it's demons.
