May sound a bit odd, but Id love to have a break somewhere that has really heavy downpours and thunder&lightning storms (mainly), Im thinking india during the monsoon season but will it still be unbearably hot or do the rains cool everthing off.

Im sure there are some great places in the USA or Asia during certain seasons (not really after hurricanes and tornado's however). But where to go?

Any ideas?

Hawaii is AMAZING!!! Especially the island of Kauai. I've been there 5 times. They have the most gorgeous tropical storms there. It's very safe, non touristy, amazing fruit and fresh fish, beautiful beaches, and breathtaking sunsets...after the storm is done over the pineapple plantations/mountains/beaches etc, the air is SO fresh!!! wish Iwas there now!

I am from India and I can tell you that during the monsoon it's really enjoying here but not to see the storms. Storms occur rarely during monsoon and not so intense. It's the summer when the scariest of storms take place.

And if you are a storm enthusiast then what better place can be than Florida itself?

UK South coast between Southampton and Portsmouth has some of the best Lightning shows in the UK.

One a couple of weeks ago was two storms meeting from either side of the Isle of Wight.

Produced Yellow and White Lightning, it was incredible

Satellites in space track hurricanes over the ocean. You can even watch a hurricane's progress live on the internet. Mount Wai-'ale-ale' in Hawaii may be a good place to watch extreme weather- storms.

I understand completely the love of storms. Try right down the middle of the midwest united states (the infamous "Tornado Alley") in the spring time.

Batanes, northernmost island of the philippines, dead smack to most typhoons going into asia proper. i'd be surprised if you can find a tree to hold on to during a REAL typhoon!
