Pretend you are a 'freedom fighter' AKA terorist. You have one goal, serve your country and your god the best way you know how. (your countries goal is intertwined with your religion)You KNOW (sry, don't answer as you won't believe this, you have already been brainwashed) if you are killed by the superior American force that you will immediately be sent to some sort of heaven that has 72 virgins or w/e. . You come to a rooftop with your SVD and spot an American patrol in the range of your sniper. You know if you fire the american 50 cal, being at a good angle to fire but not to fire on, will immediately rip apart the rooftop you are on and kill you. What do you do if you are a terrorist with these firm religous beliefs? without? If you think about it , what a good way to get people to fight blindly for you....religion. Makes me wonder why the bible or religion period was ever used...hmmmm.

People are imperfect and pervert sripture and religious teachings all the time. Please don't let some misguided individuals shade your whole view of religion. Religion causes people to do lots of wonderful things, too. They're just quieter. :-)

the bible ,Torah and Talmud were all written in the languages of kings for the mostly illiterate peasants(all derivative of the same original text). the kings had scribes, the scribes had written word.less than one percent of the population is responsible for every word and every image from 6000 B.C. until the industrial revolution(public works, religious commissions, royal portraits, temples). knowledge is power .the first book mass published was Gutenberg's bible.religion is a system of control with a very obvious hierarchy. the empowered few tell the surfs the reward is in the after life until then work the land ,stay in your caste.this repeats itself over and over again in numerous cultures and histories.
Look how many times religion has tried to put the genie back in the bottle by suppressing knowledge and scientific discovery, Copernicus ,Galileo, Darwin, the Hubble telescope, DNA,stem cells to name a few.we now have the Internet ,photography wide spread literacy(still only 1 out of every 5 people are literate world wide).the Catholic church is the wealthiest land owner in the world and has been for 5 centuries, you can bet they want to keep it that way.
Their is a problem though, the balance has shifted,we live in a society where you can search out your own answers draw your own conclusions. you don't have to listen to the status quo. the system of power is more vulnerable than ever before.Give them back their bibles and the wars that come with them.If you don't believe in a god your less likely to die in servitude of one.without an army the chain is broken and their is no one left to die in the name of greed and power lust.
But then i remember i live in country that controls the most powerful military in the world. and with it the potential to make a play for all the strategic resources worldwide.who wields all this power? an administration led by a fundaMENTAList puppet who believes god told him to become president( talk to your imaginary friend much?)A man with a belief in end times and the last generation.all the while with one finger close to the button.
How did he get there? by keeping a society divided, convince the mis-educated masses of religious zealots that a homosexual crisis on our society is eminent, and that he is the only solution.classic strategy create a morale crisis, present it with your own solution.once that's done no one cares that the only foreign policy we have left is military action.
I can't think of a war that religion did not play a part in either.

Religion has been the root cause of alot of wars. But has also been the driving force between alot of important developments in human society like science, mathematics, architecture, art, music, language, the discovery of the new world, etc.

Yes.. Since the time the religion is known to people, there were wars for it.. Not necessarily Christian vs Muslins (remember crusade?) even before these religions different groups of mankind follow different gods and there were wars.. i found it too stupid to fight for something you are not even sure existed..

People start wars in the name of religion. The religion itself is not the cause of war, it's the people that twist it to suit their purposes that cause the war.
