Do you think I'm overweight?

I'm 14, about 5'3", and weigh 133. Is this too much? I think it is. I think I need to lose about 20 pounds- I weigh as much as my mother! Problem is, I always have trouble sticking with a diet and exercise routine. HELP!!!

Well, my doctor says I'm healthy enough, but my parents are always getting on my case about my bad eating habits. I did track last spring but have since gained all the weight back. I don't know.... I just seriously hate having to suck in my stomach to squeeze into size 9 jeans, and I wish I weren't embarassed to wear a bathing suit in public. Plus I have cellulite, which everyone knows lasts forever unless you get lipo.

doesn;t matter, just be content with who you are. But if you really want to change, just think of a stretch and work out regime in the morning when you wake up. When I say 'work out' I actually mean simple things like push ups, crunches etc etc. I'm 14, 5'1'' and weigh I think 101 pounds but I use the kilo system (hehe I'm an aussie) so I don't really know the difference. Also, when you do, do 'work out' don't expect to lose weight, expect to gain because muscles weigh more than fat, but that doesn't mean you won't be leaner. You will. Every morning, walk/pushup/lunge/crunch/something! bike ride. Join a gym/dance class. Go to hydrogym-options are endless!
Hope this helps
good luck!!
Also, don't always compare with other people, and everyone notices how they look more than other people do so keep that in mind.
Bye :)

p.s. go to pilates class for fastish results. Pilates=VERY GOOD for you

20 lbs is too much to lose. At your age, you don't need to worry about pounds. In fact, go into your bathroom, and smash your scale right now. Don't worry about pounds. You need to worry about being active and healthy. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables, and replace all breads and pastas with whole grains. Get involved in some kind of sport if you're not already - and just be healthy. You'll naturally take off about 5 lbs very quickly, which will put you into a very healthy and NOT TOO skinny situation.

If you never listen to any other advice...please listen to this. It's not a good habit to get into, so early in your life, to worry about pounds. Take care of your body, and the shape you want will follow close behind. Health is the priority!

No I don't think your overweight. Don't compare yourself to your mother. Every body's body type is different. You may have more muscle then her. Muscle weighs more than fat. Don't let Hollywood or the models be your model for what a female should look like. Most of them are way too skinny. As you grow you will change. Just exercise and eat right. You will be fine.

Hey there, i know what you are going through and I KNOW that diets are hardd. i failed like a million of them -_-. I am around you age group about 5'4 and 130 . A couple years back i was crazy about losing like 20 pounds, but i think you need to learn to love yourself for the way you are. You wieght right now is quite healthy. just exercise on a daily basis and eat healthy. learn to love yourself and others will love you back. good luck =D

It depends on how your built -- I'm curvy and at 5'4'' could weigh as much as 145 lbs.

If you have curves, then you probably don't look as big as you think you do . . . check with your doctor and see what he/she has to say about it. You really should only diet at your age if necessary because you are probably still going through puberty.

I don't like exercising either; I'm trying to get a belly-dancing video to exercise by because I've heard it's fun and works your body well-- toning and flattening.

Hope that helps; feel good about yourself no matter what! You're beautiful! :)

You should ask your doctor if you are overweight. Personally judging by your age and height I would say you were at a decent size as is. Diet regimens should be set out by a professional and not by yourself. Exercise should not be overdone or underdone. Start off easy and work your way up. And remember that all teenage girls think they are overweight. A girl is her own biggest critic.

maybe 10-15 lbs but the best way to do this is simply cut junk food, fast food and sugar out of your diet for a while if your prone to any of those. Also for about half an hour everynight or day do sit ups and squats this should help.

Stand straight up then look down at your feet with your back remaining straight. Can you see your toes? If yes, then you are fine. Don't go by weight and height. Go by how much your belly sticks out.
