If it hasn't been retrofitted, you will need to replace every component, every line, and every seal related to your a/c system. It's best not to touch it now.

You shouldn't be able to put the wrong refrigerant because of the fitttings, I think. Anyway, sometimes you gotta put 2 or 3 cans. And you should use a gage so you don't overfill. If you have any doubts, just let Pep Boys or somebody fill it for you (only cost $30 around here). But tell 'em you just want it filled...nothing else! If that won't get it, then maybe you should consider a diagnostic and/or a repair.

You really screwed up!!!!!!!! The 91 Corolla requires r-12 refrigerant. R134 will not work in this system unless the system has been retrofitted for r-134. The seals are probably shot.

first of all you probably have a leak, did you check to see how the original R-12 escaped the system? probably not,.. and yes you have the wrong refrigerant. to use the new stuff you need to have a conversion kit installed... which includes a lubricant for your compressor and new gaskets... you probably ruined the AC system, trying to save a couple bucks...

You put in R-134 and you just screwed up the entire A/C system. You will need to have your lines vacuumed out and the filter changed and the O-rings changed. Sorry buddy, I know from personal stupidity. :-)

Well I would take it to a shop and make sure it was not retro-0fitted for 134, if it was not then yes you put the wrong stuff in and in that case youy would need a whole new a/c system.

could be nothing more than just a simple leak---if the fan runs and blows air then its entirely possible that what you put into the a/c system was just bled out into the atmosphere. go get your system pressure checked to see if any holes have opened up!

It is compatable, so the R-142 should work...
Has it been 3 years since you ran the system?

134 does replace r12,but, if you leak is too big and the system was open to atmosphere you have to take to shop to have leak found and vacuum held to get rid of water
