I think you should make him learn the hard way. Let him deal with his sleep deprivation until he finally realizes that he needs to go to bed at a decent hour.

What time does your 15-year-old son go to bed ,and when did his bed-time become a concern to you? If your son has been choosing his sleeping habits for several years, you have enabled him to dictate his bedtime.

I would suggest that you, your husband, and other members of your family living in the same home as your son, retire by 11 or 12 p.m. Turn off the lights, the TV, etc. Everyone goes to their designated sleeping area. Disable any tv's, stereos, radios, computers, etc. from your son's room after the time you believe your son needs to be in a quiet atmosphere. You can purchase timed mechanisms that allow YOU to be in control of electronic devices in his room. If you can't afford these electronic controls, remove any distractions from his room.

You are the parent.

I can see why that would be a hard question....let me just speak from experience. I am 29 now. I lived with my mother from the time I was 13 until I was 16, and then moved in with my father. Mom made me go to bed and was on my case all the time about my schedule, my homework, etc. My dad took the opposite tactic. He let me set my own schedule. Guess what? I got better grades when I lived with my mom.

At 15 he may think he knows what is best for him, he does not. Send him packing to bed, being tired in school will assure him of a dim future.

I would personally make him go to bed at least before midnight... He's still under your roof and your rules... it's strange to think that later in life he'll understand and be greatful his father loved him enough to set the rules.

lol
make him catch up on lost sleep right after school or before dinner or something crazy like that, if he wants to stay up late that is.

although some 15 yr olds are pretty mature, use your best judgement.

no. I am a teenager and I sleep like 5 hours a night and catch up on weekends. It works for me, no reason it can't work for him!
