Yes the goal of life is to revive the dormant spiritual body that is temporarily covered by eight separate material energies, five gross and three subtle, the gross material body is constituted of molecules and atomic particles, these atomic particles are constantly changing, so the material body is never the same twice, every seven years all the molecules in the material body are replaced, so the body you are in now is different to the one you were in seven years ago, so we are clearly not the material body.
The next misunderstanding is that we are the material mind, which is a componant part of the subtle or astral body, along with intelligence and ego.
The ego is false if it identifies the material body, along with the conditioning of the mind to be ourselves, real ego means to accept the real fact that aham brahmasmi, I am spirit soul, this has to be realised, the symptom of the soul is consciousness, which pervades this entire body, the soul is eternal and is full of bliss and knowledge.
So,am I spiritual? Yes!, Is anyone? Yes some are realised souls! Is everyone? Yes, but their spirituality is covered by the ever flickering flames of temporal matter! Is it a hobby or a way of life? It is real life, material life is illusion in the context that it is temporary!
The material world is full of suffering, there is constant distress to the mind and body, distress caused by other living entities and distress caused by natural phenomena. This material body dies a little each day untill it becomes old, diseased and returns back to the material elements, so this is the impetus not to put spiritual life on the back-burner, the impetus is there to make it the front-runner, because this individual life is so short and the human form of life so rare, we have to utilise it properly.
Anything and everything ultimately has no value in this material world unless it is spiritualised, so to utilise anything in the service of the Supreme, revives the original spiritual body, that is temporarily covered and restores our relationship with God through love and devotion, this must be done under the guidance of a bona fide spiritual master, who is in a 5,000 year old chain of unbroken disciplic succession, who can not only remove the reactions to previous activities, both pious and impious, but give guidance and support for anyone to return back home, back to Godhead.

Spirituality and my faith are my way of life. And no none of us are perfect only striving to be as perfect as possible.True peace comes from within from God for me. It is a peace that remains regardless of the world and life in it. Many things can interrupt or distract our spiritual journey but only if we permit it. I do not personally like TV, have many friends, do not drink and I try to not let the things of this world have too much of a hold on me or distract me. They are tools to gods. Nothing is more important than ones quest for spiritual knowledge and faith. My family is part of my quest. We Catholics believe the family is called to be the Domestic Church.
Peace Be With You,
Debra

Since I accepted Jesus as my Saviour, I am spiritual. I will never be perfect until the Lord changes me but in the meantime, the purpose for my life is to lead others to the Lord so that there will be many people in Heaven. That is your true purpose in life if you really want to know the truth.
So many people want to know the real purpose of their lives but they don't realize that the Lord will be returning soon and He will be looking to see how many souls that we have lead to Heaven through Him.
I am not a religious person because religion is totally not Christian. Christianity is a personal walk with Jesus and not trying to earn or work our way to Heaven through good deeds or works. I am a person with a purpose in life and that is what most people really want, isn't it? Thank you for your question.

It sounds like you're asking the meaning to life, which is a hell of difficult question to answer. Ultimately its a question that no-one can answer for you as each of us must find our own answer by internalising the very same question and then by living our lifes by what we find within us. For some its religion, for some its friend and families, for others its simply to have a good time. The funny thing is there is no one answer and no right or wrong answer either!.
Huge help I know, but that's the best I can do.

Well, I think that all of those things (TV, movies, friends, drinking, drama) are part and parcel of our true purpose. It is my belief that our purpose is to experience life, pure and simple. I believe that we are each an individuation of our source creator, here so that God can experience God's self through the act of our living. In all forms, shapes, sizes, methods. Life itself (which I believe God is) is spiritual, whether or not we consciously choose to recognize that.

Im not spiritual, but i do believe in spirits...and i dont think ppl really know the meaning of life...u just have to let challenges come to u and maybe one day u can make a difference in someones life or many ppls lives...tv, movies, ect isnt a distraction, at least not to me, its just means of entertainment, or maybe it is distraction from everyday life...who knows...
just take life one step at a time, and like my profile says, enjoy every moment of it!!! =)

Since I am very aware that I am a spiritual being (not my body)
I have to be spiritual to be true to myself.
However life is a game.In any game there are freedoms, barriers and purposes.
It is our purposes that determin what kind of game we are playing, and ultimately whether we win or lose.(I suppose)
But the playing of the Game is the main thing.
So I'm not sure what you mean by "distraction" and "true purpose" ?

Life is very hard for us all, and with the convience of what the world offers today, makes it that much harder..... We look at television and what they call "reality "shows. What is so realistic about them? Reality is not a soap opera...that is what is wrong with alot of amrriages today....Women thinking, life is suppose to be like a television show...glitz and glamor... And everyone expects us to live the way they do...... and if you don't your nothing...well not true, i am something..... i am a child of god, and I try to stay focused on my Lord... This computer that sits in my home is a distraction.... And I allow it to rob me of God's time. he requires so much from us. and our time is part of that....people are in such hurries in life..... Racing to the store, got to pick up the kids, got to join this organization, what is it all for? I'll tell you, it is for everyone else..... If you had a choice between sitting home and reflecting on God or meeting a friend to go to Lunch, what would you truely rather do????? I stay home and attend to my family... I want what God wants for me, not what everyone else demands.... I receive more pleasure, being home and reading the word of God, or listening to my Bible CD's then I do going to the mall to shop with a friend..... because when I do go, I am out wasting money, gossiping and pleasing everyone else besides who matters..... Life is what we make it. And we make it hard on ourselves....

For some of us, life is not difficult. Spirituality is not hard. Love one another, help those who need help.
About our true purpose, I'm not so sure there is one.
I do know that it is right to remodel a bedroom for a ten year old autistic kid who cannot feed himself and smears feces on bedroom walls and floors. It is just the right thing to do to help his heroic mom.
