How "loaded up" is loaded? Many guys think their 350 is hot until they find the biggest cam they can find, and suddenly, it's a underpowered pig that won't run right at any RPM. Before you make a decision on what cam you get, you have to decide what you want it to do. If you get a huge cam without opening up the exhaust and have the right carburation and intake lined up, it'll fall on its face. Don't forget the heavy duty valve springs, and locks. You will have to have a stall converter, too. You better find a real strong rear end and the right tires and driveline. You don't want to constantly shatter u-joints, or turn a driveline into a barbers pole from twisting it. Cooling is going to be a problem, better get an electric high volume water pump and electric fans. You'll have to get a good strong transmission, too. Maybe a high performance one, instead of a THM350, or a THM700-R4. After you have everything picked out and ready to buy, check out Crane, or Comp cams. Both are really good high quality cams. Figure out what will work best with what you have in mind for performance before you buy. Check local auto parts stores for that illusive performance parts Guru. They are still out there if you look for them. Two good places to find the cam at a price you want is either Jeg's, or Summit Racing. After you've picked out the camshaft, call around for pricing, then call Summit and Jegs and see what price you can get out of them. After everything is dialed in and installed, don't forget to break in the cam properly, and break in the engine correctly, or you'll end up blowing the engine and doing it all over again.
