A perfect question to answer with a poem that I wrote some time ago. It's an answer that you hope you enjoy. This poem is called ... The Heart of the Night.
The Heart Of The Night
-------------------------------------------------------------
As the sun is slowly setting with its golden glow,
and the sky reflects its colours,
and the moon begins to show.
As darkness decends on a tired and weary land,
and the dream maker comes to you
and takes you by the hand to his castle of illusions
where you'll build your private dream,
and forget the world around you,
its no longer real.
As the busy sidewalks empty,
and once again lie quiet,
then look and you shall find me
in the heart of the night.
As the stray dog fights the beggar
for the scraps you threw away,
and the rapist stalks his victim
(he's a clergyman by day).
As the madness of this blanket
once again takes hold,
and the homeless lie on hard stone
and shiver in the cold wishing they were elsewhere
but theres nothing they can do
to escape this life their living - catch 22.
As the rain begins to fall on them,
and the frost begins to bite,
then look and you shall find me
in the heart of the night.
As the newborn bay cries out waiting to be fed,
and the ferryman is given tupence,
his payment from the dead.
As the murder hides in shadows
with evil in his eye,
and his victim unaware casually walks by
to be dispatched to meet his maker,
or the one below depending how he lived his life,
either way a wasted soul.
As the darkness stretches onwards,
with no end in sight,
then look and you shall find me
in the heart of the night.
As the neon signs flicker to catch the hungry eye,
and the prostitute stands waiting,
her trick will soon pass by.
As the innocent is beaten by his fathers drunken hand,
and the silent screams of anguish wash across the land
to be forgotten by the morning,
as the wheel takes one more turn,
and the rack is stretched a little further,
and the ropes begin to burn.
As you shout simplistically,
who cares what's wrong or right.
Then look, and you shall find me,
in the heart of the night.

Just continue doing whatever I was doing until the sun rises. It makes no difference since I don't need sleep, right? :)

Tinker around on the computer. Watch television. Same thing an insomniac would do.
