If the taste is new today and REALLY nasty, you might be starting to get a dry socket. If it's the same nasty taste you've had since Monday, it's probably just the taste of blood, which is not too pleasant. If it gets worse and the pain gets worse, go see your dentist sometime after the sun comes up and see if you've lost the blood clot, which means you have a dry socket. The sooner you get this treated, the better you will feel. Then you'll have to complain about the nasty taste of the medicine used to treat the dry socket, but at least it will feel better.

It's probably a dry socket. I had the same experience and the taste is really nasty enought to make you want to throw up. I went to the dentist and they irrigated it (mix water and mouthwash and squirt it into the dry socket with a syringe). It cleans it out. But the dentist can help it heal if they put this ginger tasting paper in the dry socket. (if you have one, you'll know ..its severe pain!)The taste stops and it stops hurting.

It might be the 'juices' coming from your wounds. What I did was gently rinsed my mouth with that rinse they give you and brushed my tongue alot. Not everyone gets swelling. But make sure you follow all directions because you don't want to mess up the healing process. Remember don't spit hard just drool out.Everyone heals differently. But if you follow directions to a tee you'll be back to normal in a week or two.Sort of.Relax and just chill. Your mouth has undergone some trauma so let it heal itself.

Its dead tissue from the gum area.It can also be food that was trapped there all that time.I had the same experience.
