The Marines do it all, land, air or sea. Their air and sea is mostly to cover their troops as they storm a beach. During world war 2 they did all the land fighting against the Japanese. They played a big part in winning world war one also. The french would charge forward fight some then retreat, when the Marines got there and heard retreat their reply was "Retreat hell, We just got here". Then their commander told his men "Come on, you sons of bitches, do you want to live forever?" The German referred to them as Devil Dogs probably because they keep coming at them. During the gulf war the Iraqi's called them "Angels of Death." Like someone said above "First in last out", odd considering they are the smallest branch of the military. They do 90% of the fighting, guess they take ground and the army holds it so the marines can charge forward again.

Marines are the first ones in and the last to leave. Marines are used in the past to land on enemy shores and secure the beachs and set up a comand area for the other branches of service. Its that hard service to get through boot camp only navy seal school and ranger school are as hard.

When given proper direction and a goal to achieve, the Green Machine will achieve it. Period. Amen. The US Marines are the finest fighting force on the planet. Do not look to Iraq as a true example because, like in 'Nam, the leadership is/was flawed, the goals unclear.

Marines are the guys the are in Iraq patrolling the streets with M-16s and such. They drive tanks, use all types of guns, and train year round. They are stationed all over the world.

marine concern with sea. There is no sea or seaport in Afghanistan even marines are there to help Afghan govt establish democracy. US marine is like vegitable distributed all over the world created to solve unemployment issue

i agree with sean. we hold they move forward. and the only reason the marines took japan was because the army was in germany
