Running before breakfast is fine and is definitely the way to go. I see people saying, "no! eat 1st!" And I gotta wonder, are they even jogging at all?! And I also noticed they don't say what *they* do. It's like, they read something in a magazine and now they're saying it here.

Even when I had an evening jogging habit, a meal before the run (like dinner) would bog me down. Felt like lead in my stomache. You know the feeling I mean? My run performance would always take a huge hit if after any meal.

Now, my approach to weight lifting is different, right? And so I might eat 1st...or at least the hi protein shake. But you're not asking about lifting, so I'll drop this.

It is NOT healthy to exercise on a full stomach. That could cause abdominal distress. And a plus to exercising on an empty stomach is you speed up your metabolism by about 12 percent for the rest of the day. Another cool thing is if you eat citrus for breakfast you increase your metabolism by 15 percent for the day. Just be sure to intake lots of liquids and eat when you need to . Your body is a car and food is the gas. Dont run on fumes and listen to your body.Good luck!

yea thats fine... believe me, running without anything in your stomach (maybe except water) is a good thing... i have been running for 4 years now, and only had problems when i ate too much or ate too close to a run. if u have nothing in there, then theres nothing to get irritated... i usually eat about 30 mins after a run, so an hour and a half is just fine.. but unless sometimes u want stomach aches mid run, then i'd eat after my run... and i have run every distance up to 13.1 without stopping... so i've run from 2 mins to 2 hours straight... and i would just recommend eating after ur run... u will be fine that way

Generally, yes, but it depends on the intensity of the run and what you're eating.

If you can keep your heart rate in the target zone for twenty minutes (which would probably be a half hour workout) and eat a hearty breakfast, you'll be in a good place. Good luck

You shouldn't run before breakfast. Drink a shake before you run, then run for 20 minuets and then eat breakfast about 30 minuets later. The lack of nutrients in your system makes you more weak and it's dangerous also.

I do not think it is a good idea to run with an empty stomach for 20 minutes. Maybe you should have something light-- very light-- before running. After that, rest for a while before breakfast.

Of course it is healthy, I think you are just bragging, I would be too if I had the self-discipline to run in the mornings. Wishing you good health, and keep up the good routine! Oh, just from my general knowledge, I think that your metabolism works better after excercise so its good to eat after you run. I don't know if that is a fact, but I think it is.

When you do any type of cardio on an empty stomach first thing in the morning, your muscles have very little or no glycogen in them which is what it readily uses for fuel. Without glycogen, your body will go to it's secondary fuel source, BODY FAT!!! That is a great thing, doing cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps to lose bodyfat, and gets the metabolism burning. You can't go wrong.

No, absolutely NOT. You should ALWAYS eat your breakfast FIRST. Run 20 to 30 minutes after you finish your breakfast.
