190 Fight in the way of Allah against those who fight against you, but begin not hostilities. Lo! Allah loveth not aggressors.

191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and drive them out of the places whence they drove you out, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And fight not with them at the Inviolable Place of Worship until they first attack you there, but if they attack you (there) then slay them. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

192 But if they desist, then lo! Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.

193 And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is for Allah. But if they desist, then let there be no hostility except against wrong-doers.

A big myth in the West is that the Qur'an orders Muslims to arbitrarily kill non-Muslims. "Kill the infidels" as it's said. My understanding is that this is for COMBAT. Can anyone take explain these verses linguistically, from Arabic to English, to kill the myth? Shoukran!

even in US n every country, are thieves, robbers, murderers, rapists and wrong-doers in general allowed to go free?? no right?? that's what the Quran is saying.

"but if they attack you then slay them"

why don't they look at the "but if" ?????? Fight if the non-believers fight against you.

N I'd like to tell some other people to pls not to take individual verses and stating them out of context such as 9:5. There are contexts and everything. N what about these verses??

"Let there be no compulsion in religion....." 2:255

"If one amongst the pagans ask thee for asylum,grant it to him, so that he may hear the word of Allah; and then escort him to where he can be secure that is because they are men without knowledge."
[Al-Qur’an 9:6]

The Qur’an not only says that a Mushriq seeking asylum during the battle should be granted refuge, but also that he should be escorted to a secure place. In the present international scenario, even a kind, peace-loving army General, during a battle, may let the enemy soldiers go free, if they want peace. But which army General will ever tell his soldiers, that if the enemy soldiers want peace during a battle, don’t just let them go free, but also escort them to a place of security?
This is exactly what Allah (swt) says in the Glorious Qur’an to promote peace in the world.
Tell me now, is it fair that ISLAM is seen as ‘violent’ religion???

Islam forbids killing of innocent people. The Qur'an says:

“ … If anyone slew a person unless it be for murder or for spreading mischief in the land it would be as if he slew the whole humanity: and if anyone saved a life it would be as if he saved the life of the whole humanity.” (Al-Qur'an 5:32)

Killing any innocent human being, whether Muslim or non-Muslim is not allowed in Islam. Even in the circumstances of war, this aspect is not to be ignored. The first caliph of Islam, Abu Bakr As-Siddique (R) is reported to have commanded Usama ibne Zaid (R):

“I command you to do ten things: you must not kill a woman or a child, or an elderly person; do not cut down trees, or vandalize homes, or wound a sheep or camel except if you must eat it; do not drown a palm tree, or burn it, do not be treacherous; do not be cowardly; and you will pass by people who have devoted themselves to monastery life: leave them alone with their devotions.” (Tarikh At-Tabari, V.3, p.210)

why dosn't the west show these examples?? these verseses??

I am not Arabic speaking Muslim but familiar with the history and nature of Quranic revelation.

All the the verses in the Quran were revealed in the proper context which and where incidents happened.
Anyone who wants to understand certain passage of the Quran need to know this context before applying to everyday life.

If you want to simply take a verse or part of it without any reference to any verse prior or after it or even some verses in the other chapters, the chances are you will be further from the truth.

The verses that you presented are sufficient to refute any doubts,lies and slender against the Quran in particular and also the Muslims in general.

the mean i first ayah 191 mean ( it is condition only in the war only when they fight u fight him. and when the enemy go to Ur place and want to kill u kick the enemy out of Ur home.and persecution it worse then slaughter cuz it worse ) see the persecution in Iraq Muslim Sunni or shiee kill each other even in the mosque if there war it end but this never end until Allah say that.(and wait the enemy f they fight ur ppl fight them and kill him) this is good answer from Allah cuz f we don't kill they . they kill us u with me on this right. (reaward mean punish for no beliver in Islam cuz they attack u then attack they and kill him like they kill us. cuz Islam last religion from Allah
