I suppose it would be the same reason that girls lie. Men aren't the only ones who make mistakes. A legitimate question would be 'Why do people lie?' The answer to that would probably be something along the lines of fear... perhaps fear that the person they are lying to would hate them for the truth... fear of facing their past or actions... fear of having to pay the consequences of their actions... another reason is shame. The list goes on.

It is not a question of why do "guys" lie, it is a question of why do people lie. Because guys, girls, fathers, mothers, children, teacher, priests, scientists, politicians, gardeners, policemen, doctors, patients, neighbors, friends, enemies, reporters, cab drivers, bus drivers, humans..... all lie.
There are six basic reasons:
1. They lie to prevent someone from getting hurt (no, you're not fat - you look great).
2. They lie to hurt someone (you're a stupid fat *****)
3. They lie to make themselves more important (Michael Jordan has lunch at my house every saturday)
4. They lie to get out of trouble (I wasn't speeding officer)
5. They lie to get others into trouble (He raped me)
6. They lie because they are embarrassed about the truth or don't know the truth (babies come from storks - invading Iraq will be a weekend project)
These basic categories and any and all combinations of these is why people feel a need to lie. The truth is NOT always easier, but that is a different discussion. The truth may be a wiser choice, but not always an easier choice: like eating fast food is easier than making a healthy home-cooked meal.

Guys lie because it is easier to lie then to tell the truth but if he is a real man he wont lie to you.

I agree, but you ladies dont make telling th etruth easy now do you? if we say the wrong thing we can get punished by hours and hours of conversation dealing with what we did. and sometines this happens in the car, whoa! thats the worst. and sometimes its on the phone! OMG! that could be days right there. We love you girls but you sure like to spend lots of time on our mistakes. then we learn if we tell you what you want to hear it makes things better right away, the alternitive is well, there is no alternitive because you are going to win the argument if it takes days, weeks, or years.
and you all have something we want so bad, lol! its like a bad drug man we will say or do anything you want. we are your robots. we will even talk whiney, and make up goofey names.
we will squash your bugs, heck we will eat a bug if you want us to. we will even work 40+ hours in a hell pit just to spend the money we earned on a stuffed animal at the fair. we will carry this pink stuffed dog around the whole night too. just so we might gt a kiss or a pat on the head.
so please throw us a crumb once in a while.

In a perfect world, yes. However, we do not live in a perfect world and men are not the only ones who do this. I have done it and am ashamed to admit that I am currently doing that now. I guess my reasoning behind it is because sometimes what the other doesn't know won't hurt them. Why tell someone something that will devestate them, when there is no reason for it. I know my way of thinking is a little screwed up, but that is the way that I feel about it.
However, lying is not easy. Once you start lying you have to keep lying and eventually it catches up with you.

we all tell stories the truth is not the easy thing to tell a lie gets you out of the hot seat for a little while it the weak way out thats why people lie

yea guys lie but girls do too. we all hav our secrets. but mayb u should get a betr guy or talk to him about it and if it dosnt work then hes not worth it. and sum guys havta b all that around their friends.
