Aw, heck, an update just came in and suddenly everything works. Thanks for the answers, and now the Help function is working, I can figure this out.

Adobe 7.0 if you are talking about Acrobat is an essential piece of software. Many documents that you download on the internet are in .PDF format. I use .PDFs when I download instruction manuals, sheet music, ebooks, just about any reading material that can be printed. If you are a student it's a great peice of software to have, but usually it's free to download.

Why they put it for you in the CD? two reasons:

1. to Read the PDF manuals of Scanner you got

2. Advertising, to make you know about it
