I owned the 2001 S4 for 3 years. It was a great car, but it did have some electrical issues that became annoying. Plus, the timing belt at 60k is an expensive "used car" investment.

The bi-turbo is responsive and makes daily driving a blast.

The interior of the car is gorgeous. Mine was the "sport" edition and had the silver interior with silver and black seats.

Handling was fairly nice, but I lowered it and tightened the suspension up.

Power: Great for a daily driver, but I also chipped the car (an amazing, yet cheap mod)

Electrical issues: Tail-lights went out 3 times (fuse), the clutch "breaker" went out twice causing the vehicle not to start.

If you don't have any moneys for repair and upkeep, I would stay away from this vehicle. If money is not an issue, I think you will be extremely happy, as this car is a BLAST and is still quite the head-turner (especially when the turbos spool).

the folk who mentioned that's a solid 1st motor vehicle are rediculous!! The Audi S4 has a twin turbocharged engine which has waaay too lots skill for a amateur driving force. additionally, that's made by utilising Audi which up until eventually the final couple years has had substantial substantial electric powered and mehcanical mess ups on each and every person of thier autos. additionally, Im uncertain the place you probably did your learn yet once you're saying it fairly desires any maintenance this is a lot from the certainty, and the maintenance that it does decide on are going to cost an arm and a leg. i could stay as some distance away as conceivable from this motor vehicle, used Audi's customarily at the instant are not a solid decision, and intensely quickly autos are solid to stay faraway from until eventually you get greater in the back of the wheel utilising time anyhow. solid success wish this does not offend you or any others who responded, we are all entitled to our comments. some are basically based greater on certainty than others. And playstation brings up a solid element, helping american jobs is important recently, so i could distinctly advise a Honda or Toyota, maximum of that have been designed, outfitted and acquired in united statesa. for some years.

I like it, I just bought one last week, thinking of buying one? I would go for the manual if you know how to drive one, automatics are not as fun. They are expensive to fix though, so I would save up a few grand for repairs just in case!

awesome cars, but watch out for turbo failure in those b5 S4s around 90k. it can be a pretty pricy fix. overall very nice cars though.
