Like it's been said United States Military spending is over 600 billion second world military spending is china at 100+ bn. The most advanced technology we have 34 air craft carriers whereas china has less than 3 lowly advanced air craft carriers. Not to mention U.S. armed civilian militias and a civilian gun ownership of 110 guns per 100 people. Militias with Armored personnel carriers and organized military tactics as well as gangs that are better armed than most world military. It would be a cold day in hell if the U.S. were to be invaded. Something around 35-40% of Military spending and 45%+ of world gun ownership it would be epic but it would not be possible. Fortunately lobbying from unnamed groups has allowed for the civilian disarmament of other countries it would be very hard to take America. China and all its military could not take our civilian population alone mind you I'll add Russia to that challenge, we'd still win.

Seriously? Let's start with Russia. Russia has six nuclear bombs and just ONE of them could blow up half the world. Russia is known for the amounts of nuclear weaponry it has and how strong they are in fighting. Now let's go to China, China is also extremely good at fighting since they too have a large amount of nuclear weaponry. Now to my homeland, Great Britain. We're not the best but we do also have nuclear weapons, and we won both world wars. What about when Germany invaded and took over Poland in WWII? Just think about what they'd be able to do now. Sure, America may be 'strong' when it comes to wars but the whole world against America alone? You guys wouldn't stand a chance. Then there's natural bombs, every country has them. And a lot as well. So sorry to burst your little bubble but America isn't that great.

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization was created in 1949 by the United States, Canada, and several Western European nations. NATO has twenty-eight members, mainly in Europe and North America. The combined military spending of all NATO members constitutes over 70% of the world's defence spending. Three of NATO's members are nuclear weapons states: France, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Article Five of the treaty states that if an armed attack occurs against one of the member states, it should be considered an attack against all members, and other members shall assist the attacked member, with armed forces if necessary.
NATO combined active military forces totaled 4,084,069 personnel and 5,075,492 in reserve personnel.

The U.S. military is the world's second largest, and has troops deployed around the globe.
The United States has both the largest and second largest air force in the world. The USAF is the largest with approximately 5,484 aircraft. The United States Navy is the second largest air force in the world with 10 active aircraft carriers, 2 under construction, USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN-78) / USS John F. Kennedy (CVN-79) and an estimated 3,700+ aircraft.
The United States Navy is also the largest in the world; its battle fleet tonnage is greater than that of the next 13 largest combined.
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) is currently the largest marine force in the world with 203,000 active duty members and just under 40,000 reserve Marines.

It is currently one hundred percent impossible both invade and occupy the United States of America. Another nations only hope of invading the U.S. would be to take a small island or secluded territory like some areas of Alaska, however the U.S. military would respond and crush any invading forces. As far as Abby is concerned you are clearly ignorant of both warfare and logistics. First both China and India lack the necessary logistics to move an army of sufficient strength to invade the U.S. Even if they did we would use nuclear weapons against either the invading force or against these nations themselves if we felt a real threat of being overthrown by them.

Yes the US can be invaded, however a successful occupation would be difficult. I don't think it could happen or would happen. Our civilian population is better armed than some militaries. Not to mention most of the world's economy depends on Americans buying goods from them.
The US isn't just a military superpower, America is an Economic Powerhouse. More powerful than the next 3 countries economic power combined.

If Russia secures the 50 miles of Ocean between itself and Alaska at Big Diomede Island they could mount an invasion in a matter of hours with enough planning. They could even take a portion of Alaska and setup SAMS before we had much of a defense mounted. If they had enough air support (doubtful) to take all Alaska it would be possible to work their way through Canada and invade the mainland, likely Minnesota after a very long walk.
The odds of this happening I would guess are INCREDIBLY slim.
But are the best chances of an invasion (even if temporary) off the top of my head.
Sun Tso says to strike your enemy in a place he thought was most secure.
If we are invaded it will likely come from a chink in the armor, in a way we never saw coming. - probably not a traditional invasion.
(i dont see China sending 1 billion people over in canoes, by the way)
**ABBY** how do you think the India or China could get enough people to invade the US past a GIGANTIC Navy, under the support of an unrivaled airforce? It would be likes ducks in a barrel. And even if somehow they did land in the US, how would they be supplied? How would they eat? How would this gigantic army defend itself from strategical nukes, the stealth bomber, b52's or tomahawk missles launched from 600 miles away?
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto - "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind each blade of grass."
Iraq was the 4th largest army before US captured the entire country in a matter of HOURS.

Theoretically, yes, its just a case of having enough men and war material.
In actuality however its no, simply due to the insanely large military budget the US operatets to.
The Coast guard is a law enforcement agency. If it did try and take on an organised force it would be destroyed. It would be a bit like a cop with a magnum trying to take on a bad guy with a rocket launcher - pointless. Regular navy - thats a different story.

Why could the USA not be invaded, look at China , soon to be a superpower far larger than the USA has been or ever will be, They would have no problem launching over a million troops against the USA, It would just come down to getting their.
As for the matter of the coast guard being bigger than the royal navy , well maybe it is but last time i checked the RN was using more than a few patrol boats or cutters. All the ships the US have are not gonna be enough, If the Islamic countries decided to join in then they can put a US warship out of action with a tiny speedboat,
The US navy suffered a huge set back at Pearl Harbour once , why does every one think it could not happen again.
A lot of people need to stop thinking the USA is an invincible giant , It has had its *** kicked by some very small countries when it has gone it alone. It is a historical fact that the USA has never won a conflict on their own with no outside help, Even the civil war had France helping on one side.

Americans would DEFINITELY ally together if that ever happened. As our "enemies" landed on the beach (if they made it that far) you know some people would be picking them off with rifles. I'd fight for America if it was invaded.
ALso, remember we have military bases across the world. While they may not be able to withstand a long & grueling assault, they'd last long enough to protect the homeland.

Mexico was in the anti-American coalition, we would be in trouble. Think of all the millions of troops from all the South American Countries! And especially if Canada was against us too, because we'd have a hell of a time defending that long border, and it would distract us from the southern border.
Honestly, for America to survvive that, the first thing we'd have to do is invade and concer all of Central America down to the Panama Canal. Then we could just defend the tiny border there. Somehow we would have to put Canada on lockdown too.
