Windows XP is backward compatible. So it should support Windows 95 software without any problems. But your software might run little bit slow as it might not take advantages of XP.

Check program compatibility. Its available in Accessories.

But upgrade of your Win 95 Software to latest version is highly recommender for better performance.

It depends...some programs will, and some won't. Windows XP has a utility called "Compatibility". Go to the executable file for the program, right click on it, select Properties, and click on the Compatibility tab. From there you can choose to have the program run as though it was running with an earlier version of Windows. Good luck.

Basically, in terms of software, newer versions of software will not be supported by older platforms. For example a 2003 word doc opened by 95/2000 word version and will indicate that it does not recognize the version. If you have older versions of software, you will be able to use it on newer platforms as it will have the capabilities to support such versions. So dun worry, if you wanna use a windows 95 software on an XP.

You can right click on some games or files and select run in windows 95 mode. Note not all files have this option and it does not aways work.

So right click on the File that loads the program for example the shortcut and select compatibility tab and select compatibility. Then you can seletc if you want it to run in windows 95/98 mode ect.
