I be live we all come back~ birth, life, death, then it repeats itself just like the seasons do, or a wheel, like the wheel of life. I do not think it has any religious basis because the bible & other rligions are too new compared to the latest archaeological findings.

Humans' souls go to heaven or hell. Plants and animals just die. The animals return to the dust and that is the end of them as far as their destination is concerned. Once in the dust, they can be food or turn into fossil fuel over time, but once plants and animals die, they are finished. Check out Ecclesiastes 3:19-21: "For what happens to the son of men also happens to animals; one thing befalls them: as one dies, so dies the other. Surely, they all have one breath; man has no advantage over animals, for all is vanity. All go to one place: all are from the dust and all return to dust. Who knows the spirit of the sons of men, which goes upward, and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?" King Solomon tells us here that man and animal go through the same process: They are born and when they die they return to the dust from which they are created. In verse 21 however, King Solomon asks us who knows the spirit of the son of man which goes upward? In his question, he tells us that the spirit of the son of man goes upward, which is heaven, and in continuing his question, he says "and the spirit of the animal, which goes down to the earth?" The animals' spirit return to the earth, but the human spirit goes upward, to heaven.

Humans can either go to heaven or heaven based on the type of relationship they had with God. Plants simply die and return to the earth. For all you animal lovers, I am sorry but animals simply return to the dust of the earth.

The best answer to that I think can be found in this book written thousands of years ago called the bible. It's a real entertaining story that is so far fetched that after you read it and find out that millions of people who call themselves Christians actually believe it you'll find yourself laughing for hours on end

God created people specially--with a soul. His Son didn't die for plants or animals. His Son died to assuage the wrath of the Father against people who used their free moral will to sin.

Humans have a free will given to them by God to choose to accept what He did on the cross as payment for our sins. If we accept His gift of Eternal Life, then our soul lives with Him in Heaven. If we reject Him, we spend eternity in Hell. It's our choice.

Well, they're supposed to decay and return to the earth. However, our preservation practices (embalming, burying people in steel boxes surrounded by concrete) kinda prevents this...or at least delays it for a very long time.

their souls migrate to the end of the universe(near jupiter),where they float around until their name is called from the waiting list.then the creator assigns them a new place, such as reincarnating into another living creature or as mini bacterial organisms with double protons.
