you know the ones - they bark lots and get under your feet when you walk, like maltese and shi tzu etc. what's the fascination? I love dogs but these ones drive me nuts. am i alone here?

If you properly train the dog it wont be annoying, so better question is why most people with little dogs allow the dogs to behave this way. Big dogs can just as bad if not worse.

I have a king Charles spaniel she is very cute she will bark but so will big dogs she is very well behaved when I tell her no barking she will stop sure she use to get under your feet but that was only due her been a puppy at the time. small dogs are less expensive to feed as well. And are great indoor dogs. They are great if you want a dog that sits on your lap as well. I love all dogs but do favour small dogs we are lucky there are so many breeds to choice from. a dog for ever body.

well, everyones taste are different.... I have a maltese and YES she is under my feet all the time..... but i love my dog.... she does not bark alot, just when someone comes to the door, or when the cat is on my lap....lol.... i love big dogs too, but i do not like the big dog poop i have to scoop out of my yard ..... i like indoor animals, i hate the idea of an animal being chained up....and alot of people cannot attend to bug dogs as well as others.... if you don't love all dogs in general, your not a dog lover but a breed lover..... i just chose not to have a flood in my house if my doggie cant hold it till i get home... my small dog has a puppy pad for accidents, big dogs have BIG accidents..... and a puppy pad won't hold up to the job...And something that poops bigger than me, sorry, cant handle that....lol

no you are not. I actually had one of my questions removed because I must have offended a little dog person. We went camping and my daughter kept getting attacked by this little dog these people brought and all they could say was come here to the dog, not sorry or anything. Now if I had taken my pit I bet you anything we would have been asked to leave. and he loves everyone. Little dogs seem less intimidating to people but temperment wise they are the worst. I believe this to be a fact because I know way to many little dogs and they are all like that. all of them.

My dogs don't bark....thank goodness! I have been blessed with that, cuz it drives me insane! Personally, just like kids, I think these dogs are the way they are becasue of lack of discipline from their owner.
I love little dogs, they climb up into our laps and want to be loved. Big dogs want the same thing but you just can't let a golden retriever sit on your lap when you are 100 pounds and 5 foot 6 inches!

I own a Maltese and a Yorkie - We've trained them not to bark when it isn't necessary. and they know to keep their distance around feet from being stepped on as puppies. I don't know what small dogs you've encountered, but whatever problems they have - that's the owner's fault.

Dogs like shi tzus are pretty. I guess people like to be associated with things that complement them. Though the reason why anyone likes to be associated with Chihuahuas is beyond me.

I'm a German Shepherd fan myself. I also don't care for small dogs, especially the yapping, nipping kind. I do like those little Lhasa Apso's, though. I guess it's just the different ways people are. There's a dog for everyone!

Smaller dogs can be carried everywhere the owner goes I guess. For some dog obsessed people, this is a must. They will carry the d**n things around, even taking them into convenience stores barking.
Also, they are "cute."

Why do some people like big dogs? Everyone has their own likes and dislikes. If we were all the same, the world would be very boring.
