Thousands of people joined the miliatary during World War II, and knew that there was a good chance that they would die. But they had a strong desire to fight for what they believed in and thier country. I thought about joining the military when we were in the Gulf War (first one back in '91) but I was too old.
I still have faith in our young people, and when push comes to shove we will fight for our country. Americans were very hesitant to go into World War II, but after Pear Harbor many minds were changed. It's probably going to take something worse than Pearl Harbor (we already had 911). Unfortunately I think something worse than Pearl Harbor is going to happen.

I joined up before the war (I was in Korea on 9/11), but I would have joined up instantly had I been a civilian back then. I believe this country is worth protecting and the lives of my children are worth safeguarding, and I'm willing to sacrifice for both. If you don't understand that, you lead a life for which you deserve both sympathy and contempt.

They want to do their part to help out their country in its time of
need. I know people that have returned because they felt such
a strong sense to be there. They know what is going on over there
and that they have the power to make a difference. They have
met the people that they are fighting for and they also know that
they are fighting for us also to preserve our freedoms. It isn't a job to them. It is a calling. The news doesn't tell you the whole story just
the negatives. Ask someone who's been there about all the good things that are happening.

I guess that they want to save their countries, their families,...
For example, when a country is being attack, people join the military to keep their country.
Other example is people in US join the military to stop terrorism (It is kind of potential dangerous, I think) because if they don't do that, one day the terrorist will attack their home and they will lose all

After Pearl Harbor, the countries recruiting centers were
overwhelmed with applicants because everybody recognized
that the country was in danger.
It is far easier to find recruits when you are attacked then when
you are fighting a pre-emptive war!

Thank God there are people out there that would do that, because if there weren't, we'd be speaking German or Japanese right now. It natural to expect there to be a group of peacenik, "a hug will solve the worlds problems", type people out there. Consequently, there will always be a group who is the exact opposite.

a couple of the guys that ive known saw it as a cool option and exciting but i think the bottom line is they dont grasp the reality of it until it shoots them in the rear lol ... some places i imagine its one of the only options career-wise if jobs are scarce and money is more scarce. Why not ya know? more power to them .. i sure wouldnt join in a war unless i had to for financial reasons.

Love of country.... a desire to exterminate Islamo-facism so that their children can live in peace, with freedoms and rights intact.
Those who ignorantly want to leave the war unfinished, un-won, undecided, ARE LEAVING THAT WAR for THEIR CHILDREN...
Ahhh, yes, like the left says..... "for the children", and yet they kill the children and for those they do not kill, they would leave an unfinished war for the survivors to address.
