Lymes disease is a rickettsial disease transitted by ticks carring it. It is extremely debilating . Tick paralysis should resolve fairly quickly after the tick is removed. If it has been many hours, that is most likely not the cause of the paralysis. Lymes disease requires diagnoses through blood testing such as the IFA and if positive, an exact titer to determine recent infections/vaccinations/old infections, etc. It is treated with an antibiotic called Doxycycline. The animal can have positive titers for up to one year after diagnoses and treatment.
