Watching Sweet 16 I thought they all got Mercedes! I never heard of the pearl ring thing to be honest. I didn't get one.

I don't know. I get pearl jewelry alot, but it's my birthstone,lol. No, I think it's because it's something every woman should have. Usually it's a pearl necklace though. It signifies that you are a classy young woman in most cultures.

i also got a pearl ring on my sixteen birthday, and my granny said is tradition that have been pass down. so she just follow.
