Do you ever get this overwhelming feeling to do something to help another person?

Where does this feeling come from?

How do you think a person feels when they have been helped?

Do you feel anything from helping someone?

How can more people realise that this is such a worthwhile act and treasuresed by the receiver.

Last November 6th during a serious blizzard which kept me snowbound in town Aaron was delivering a semi-load of french fries to Columbus,OH. That day he had taken a wrong turn and stopped in Dayton,OH to inquire about his route. On his way across the lot of a truck stop he stumbled over a stump and bruised his rib and hit his head losing consciousness. At this same moment in time Tamara was on her way home and noticed she was running low on gas. She was about to turn around and go back to her regular gas station, but decided at the last moment to turn into the station where Aaron was laying unconscious. She saw him and called the ambulance, followed him to the hospital, talked to the doctors, and finding out that they had given him an MRI and discovered a brain tumor the size of a large egg, stayed at the hospital from 7a.m. unti1 3 p.m. during the surgery praying for God to spare his life.

Without anyone asking, she contacted Aaron's employer, found a driver to complete his load to Columbus, took his clothes home to wash, took his glasses to be fixed, and took him into their home on his release from the hospital. After few days rest they took him to the airport and put him on the plane for home. She did not know Aaron, and she had never stopped in the gas station before.

The evening of the accident I was staying at a friend's home in Aberdeen and was trying to reach him on his cell phone. Finally a strange person answered the phone, gave me the number of Aaron's broker who gave me the number of the hospital. As soon as I called they requested my permission to operate and the next morning he was in surgery .I could do nothing but pray and I started a prayer chain thru Holy Cross church members, and my friend, Betty, started a prayer chain among her friends. It was a very serious surgery and Aaron came thru it with flying colors. We have much to thank God for sending him an "angel" to watch over him while he was all alone so far from home.

Coincidence? If Aaron had not taken a wrong turn and stopped to ask directions…If he had not tripped over the stump and been incoherent enough for them to give him the MRI test…He could have died from the tumor not knowing it was there. If Tamara had not stopped in a strange gas station and found him…He could have died lying there in the dark. If she had not stayed the distance and put him on the plane for home… he would not have had anywhere to go or the strength to take care of himself Coincidence?

I don't think so.

Yes, we believe that miracles happen today.

Sincerely Your Friends

I recieved this letter from Aaron and his wife thanking me for stopping to take care of a stranger. They do not realize that I feel no one is a stranger to me. We are all our brothers' keeper. Spirit gave me a quote that I value 'Though you know not my name, I am you, we are the same.' I take this to heart and help people in need as much as I possibly can. Aaron would have lost his life had I not stopped to get him to the Emergency room and I thank my Angels for guiding me to him. He is an elderly man and has since sent me many cards expressing his thankfulness for being alive today. I do not take the credit, I am here for others to share my love and light with. I value life and the people presented to me to help. This is my journey that I have chosen to take.

I wouldn't put it as strongly as an overwhelming feeling, more an impulse and yes it is part of my daily life.

I overheard an Art of Living spokesperson saying that it was something we should do every day and I just took it on board.

It puts a smile inside my heart when I see the look of surprise on the recipient's face.

It is also a constant reminder to me that even when darkness is walking the earth, as it really seems to be these days, there is light if we look for it.

I guess if we want more people to know that it works, we should discuss it in public places. Then like me, people will overhear it being talked about and maybe act on it.

All my life has been like that, if you are over 18 you can check out my 360. As a child nobody ever gave me a thing, not even love, people were unkind to me, I lived in homes from the age of six. I swore that once i became an adult I would be different. I have been kind to everyone I have ever met, I give all. In love I am the same, I give all. I love to see people smile, and that is all the reward i need. I'm trying to get people to send me their old unwanted laptops for the schools of Isan, this area is the poorest in Thailand. No luck yet, if i was Bono they would be sending them in their millions. Why do people need an icon?

Most honest caring persons have a natural desire to help others. Sometimes when given a "helping hand" you may feel obligated, don't worry, honest people aren't looking for anything. By extending a little kindess to others you'll find that it's quickly returned. It's wonderfully surprising to find that people everywhere, even in remote places where they may seldom see a strange face, really want to help, and the more serious the situation the greater the effort.

I get the urge all the time because it doesn't seem to happen to much any more. I think it comes from the need to spread love and kindness in a world of people who are only truly concerned about their inner circles. I feel good when I help even when I'm not sure that it was appreciated. I know that one act will domino. my not by the person I helped but maybe by someone who saw me help someone.

yeah i do, sometimes i don't realise that i am doing things to help others. For example the other day i was cutting my lawn and i was in a daydream i went over my boundaries so i carried on cutting my next door neighbours lawn. On bin day yesturday i was bringing my wheelie bin for some reason i brought my other neighbours in. I felt a bit weird incase they thought i was sticking my nose into their business. But at the end of the day it was a neighbourly thing to do. If i am not in hurry mostly i let other people in the queue. (That's if i don't have my screaming 3 kids with me) More people should try it.

Doing acts of kindness for someone you do not get on with is a good way of sorting out those situations. Acts of kindness by road users can really make someone's day.

the act of reaching out to someone comes from an earlier connection- something that happened in the past (mayb past life). did u observe that u give out unconditionally to some people but cannot give out so willingly to others? sometimes, even if you want to give, it does not reach the recipient.

This relates to feelings as well. we connect better with some people than with others.

Yes I do. It comes from God. One reason is Karma. But the main reason is because that is what God wants. Unconditional love. To be a part of the Father (GOD), you must have unconditional LOVE. It feels good to help others. Don't get it confused:
Matthew 10:38 "And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me."
16:24-5 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it."
19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me."
