where can i buy food coloring gel or powder ive done regular food coloring and it just gtes hard and gross

Go to your local Craft store and look int the cake decorating section. That is where they have the Wilson food colors and they work great!

These are good answers... but don't overlook food coloring pastes as well, also made by Wilton. They come in very small jars because the color is SO intense, that just the tiniest bit on the tip of a toothpick will have a noticeable effect.

The darker you go, the greater the chance that you'll change the flavor a bit, so be cautious!

Wilton used to have some really good tips and info on their website.

Wal-Mart use to sell it in their craft section, where the cake decorating for weddings are. Probably any craft store would sell the gel. I use the gel and I got mine from Wal-Mart.
