Because of the rampant corruption in Congress and the fact that it does almost nothing except spend money, give speeches to rooms in which there is no audience, and collect checks when they should be in the building doing the People's work, I base my vote now on whether or not a person in question is incumbent. If that person is, then I will vote against them so that we might get some new blood into Washington. If we end up with the same old sorry morons it will be proof that we are collectively stupid or don't care.

It is a variable thing. Personality must play a part, since they must deal with a wide variety of people and situations. How well they explain what thier core goals are. A canidate who promises the moon is an idiot, one who shoots for 6-8 things shows his priorities. Lastly is grace under fire. A canidate who cant handle a debate, a negative ad, or the press, will never hold up to the pressures of office. While I do not like negative ads, sometimes they are necessary, and must be answered.

Genearal ideology... because that is what shapes your policy... though you may offer immediate benefits but your larger political orientation is what matters the most... If i don't have a winning option on ideology, then i would go for the persnality of the candidate among two bad choices.

I wouldn't as politics still seems vague to me but if I would want to vote it would be based on a number of things all together.
1.General ideology
2.Circumstances (considering things that are going on in my country and else where).
3.Personality

Ideology.... all the way.
Party platforms are just micro-marketed talking points.
Personality? Well.... no.... there have been plenty of great politicians who have had the personality of field mice on crack.
As for the latter, lets not even go there.

i don't vote, because in my opinion all the politicians are bunch of lies, they makes a lots of promises and when they win they don't do what they promise the people, they don't care about the people they only care about themselves.
