Whatever you do, don't change it at the airport. In Changi or Thailand.
I recommend you take some US dollars with you to Thailand and then exchange to Baht.
Unless you can get Baht right from your city?
If not there are litterally thousands of Banks and outlets in Thailand that will exchange it for you at a fair rate.
The airport can take up to a %5 surcharge.
I know, I live in Thailand now!

The exchange rate at the Thai Airport itself is quite good. There are a couple even before you go through the immigration.
I was twice surprised I could get better rates there, that once in town.

I have heard that the best "rate of exchange" for a Singapore dollar can be found in some alleys in Singapore.

If you are still in SG, you could go to suburbs malls to do the exchange. Never at the airport or in town (Orchard Rd or lucky plaza). Try one at Yishun or Woodlands. They give better rates.
