I've just read the other posts and I've seen a lot of bull concerning the church, but the one's I've read hear is crap. Josh K, I've read your site, you say you don't hate the mormons but your site says different. When you hate someone who spread lies about them, Your website mixes truths with lies. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Maybe it's because of the "missionaries" who come to the door? I know a lot of people who don't like that of Mormons and of Jehovah's Witnesses. I have to say that I have a lot of respect for the Mormon religion, though. Of all the Christians that have a lot to say about birth control, abortion, and pretty much everything else that are Christian "laws" the Mormons at least put their money where their mouths are. Mormons have their own welfare, their own meals on wheels, and they also have a very live and let live attitude. If you don't want to be Mormon you don't have some crazy screaming at you on the street calling you a sinner. I hope that you don't worry too much about the people who don't know about your religion and are willing to just say or do mean things because of it. Religion in the right hands can be a beautiful thing and if it is that to you then everyone else can take a hike.

The people that think Mormon's are evil, dont understand Mormons. Most of the devout mormons I have known have been very nice, kind people. I believe a majority of the people are well intentioned and strive to excel in their faith, the people aren't evil, it is the doctrine that's evil.
The type of doctrine that Joseph Smith formed was not only supplemental but has become preferential to the Bible. Whenever you look at a religion per say, always look at the one on whom it was founded. Christianity was founded on Jesus Christ and the teachings that He gave forth, mormonism on a polygamous man that lived in the 1800's who received revelation by gazing into a hat, reading the lines of the Book of Mormon as they appeared on seer stones, which was called scrying and was considered an occult practice popular in contemporary witchcraft.
The bottom line, Smith has deceived many into following a false prophet and his tactics were evil as well.

Well I'm a catholic and everytime during RE I ask questions about other religions they just tell me the whole "They may practice their religion different but they are still Christians..." speach.
When I was younger I though of Mormons "weird" because of the fact that they don't celebrate anything (x-mas, halloween, 4th of July, even birthdays!!) but now I have matured from that and I understand that they have their own way of pracing our Lord, maybe I find their methods "weird" but they are still Christians in my eyes.
Now if only the Jenova's Witnesses would stop waking me up at 9 AM on Sundays....

Wow, I don't know of ANYONE that thinks mormons are EVIL or have horns or don't eat cereal. I just think that so many people haven't been exposed to enough of the religion. I mean most mormons live in their own shut out communities away from uran life or places of diverse populations of flourishing people. Now-a-days there are mormons popping up in the media (Brandon Flowers (The Killers), Jon Heder (N.D., but you probably know about that...LoL), and the lead singer of Panic.
I just hope that people like myslef don;t have to just learn about mormons from 1. the annoying guys that come knocking at my door or 2. rock bands - I hope that they come out of their communities and live amongst the people which you guys don't seem to understand and vice versa. The problem is on both sides of the fence, don't you think? ^_^

I have never heard of anyone thinking that Mormons are evil. A lot of people don't like the fact that they come to their door trying to preach to them.
Also, I realize not all Mormons are this way, but you still hear of the polygamy. Men marrying 13 or 14 year olds and having kids isn't too well thought of in this day in age.
Mormons have different beliefs than some people, but evil, I don't think so.

I'm not sure. I myself have a bad association with Mormons, and I'm really not sure why. As far as I know, they're just Christians who are a bit more conservative.
You can see from my post that another reason is that people don't even know what Mormonism is. It's a fairly new religion compared with others, and so people distrust it because it doesn't have the patina of age.

Actually, it's your scamming, faker, polygamist, pedophile, cult founder that is the problem. Then the mystery of why you followers don't see the flaws and outright ignorance of the book of Mormon. You guys are nice people...it's just that you are a bunch of brainwashed fanatics. I am agnostic, so you can't say that I'm favoring any other religion over yours.

I do not think you are evil. I just do not like your religious beliefs. I have serious issues with the teachings. you know the milk before honey you give to new believers. I think that it is so far away from what Jesus taught that it cannot possibly be Christian. But then again, I have not had the best experience with this religion personnally.
most people are nice enough but it again is the teachings i have a problem with.

You really want to know? The last two who asked me ended up leaving the Mormon church...why? Because they found out what people who have researched the Mormon church have found out. Did you know that it has been proven that the original symbols that Joseph Smith produced were copied from an Egyptian mummy on display in New York City? That Smith had been to the exhibit? That at the time the Rosetta Stone was a new discovery and its use to interpret the symbols was not widely available? That when the symbols were interpretted later on they were the burial record s of the mummy, and not anything given to Smith by an angel?
Did you know that in the 1950s a group of Mormons from BYU set out to prove the geography references in the Book of Mormon were real and true? That they returned about two years later after extensive travel and research in Central and South America, and that they were extremely disheartened because they were not able to verify ANYTHING from the Book of Mormon?
Did you know that a Mormon scholar, Grant Palmer, a lifelong Mormon, was disfellowshipped for publishing a book that questions official Mormon history?
Smith proclaimed boldly thatThe Book of Mormon could never change or be changed, but did you know that at least 3,913 changes have been made? many are minor changes because of many spelling and many grammatical errors, but it does give one pause to consider that angels can't spell.
Can you see star light? Do you understand that a light year is the distance light can travel in one year's time? Well, as a Mormon you believe in the literal Book of Mormon and Bible accounts, placing the Earth at just under 6000 years old...so how can we see most stars that are way more than 6000 light years away? Hmmm,
but what really makes people crazy is the Mormon teaching that the god of this planet physically and personally came down and impregnated Mary, which tosses out the whole Virgin Birth, and actually makes that god a rapist for having sex with someone who was about 14 years old. Do you really believe that when you die you become a god to another planet? If so, then where is any evidence of any other planet that has life like Earth, and are they around stars that can't exist if your religion is consistent? Why are there more than twelve running the church these days? Why do the rules keep changing?
There are well over a thousand areas of the Mormon religion that are very troubling, inconsistent, or have been out and out debunked. I do not say that because of any malace toward you. I have researched this, I have studied this. I have shared these ideas with the Mormons who used to come to my door, and they are no longer Mormons.
I can honestly say that many live their lives extremely well, very kind and giving, and loyal, good patriotic Americans. There are really wild right wing types that make Mormons look pretty crazy, but every religion has those types. Sticking to the norm, there are many many questions that Mormons never ask, because you are taught not to. The Mormons I have talked to have told me the responses they have received when they ask them my questions. They don't get answers. They get attacked. WHY?
I have concluded that today the Church of Jesus Christ and latter day Saints is more like an AMWAY religion, and that ever since the start the whole Joseph Smith story has caused people (even those who supported him, lived with him, knew him, his family) to question just what the heck he was up to. Today it is about power and especially money. Mormons tend to circulate it among themselves and pay eachother extremely well, if you know the right people.
I would advise you to really research the Mormon church/religion using sources outside of the church, and to seek out unbiased research. See what it is your church really says it believes, and do the research. And remember, some things are true whether or not you believe them, and in the case of the Mormons, some things are not true, whether or not you believe them. Faith is a gift, but it is also used as a control when what you are told to believe in turns out to not be able to stand the light of even the barest light of truth.
Here are two interesting things Joseph Smith foretold:
""On the 14th of Feb. 1835, Joseph Smith said that God had revealed to him that the coming of Christ would be within 56 years, which added to 1835 shows that before 1891 and the 14th of Feb. the Savior of the world would make his appearance again upon the earth and the winding up scene take place" (Journal of Oliver Boardman Huntington, Vol. 2, pp. 128,129).
Joseph Smith said the moon's inhabitants were of uniform height (about 6 ft. tall), dressed like Quakers and lived nearly 1,000 years (Journal of Oliver B. Huntington, Vol. 3, p. 166 of typed copy at Utah State Historical Society and The Young Woman's Journal, pub. by the Young Ladies' Mutual Improvement Associations of Zion, 1892, Vol. 3, pp. 263,264.)"
A Prophet cannot be wrong if he is truly speaking for God. The Bible teaches that
Additionally, some Christians and Mormons would be surprised to find out that Mormon teachings identify the devil and his minions as...Christians:
"# Brigham Young said that the "Christian God is the Mormon's Devil..." (Journal of Discourses, Volume 5, page 331).
# John Taylor said that Christianity was "hatched in hell" (Journal of Discourses, Volume 6, page 176) and "a perfect pack of nonsense...the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work..." (Journal of Discourses, Volume 6, page 167)."
If you dare, the first link is one of the best...but be warned, you about to encounter some truth:
Peace

I don't know of anyone that thinks they are any more evil in general than anyone else. I do, however, believe that their doctrine is demonically inspired. They are not Christians, in that they do not even believe in the Deity of Jesus. I have read a bit about them in the past, but don't remember a lot of the details. But I got enough to know they do not share my faith. I love them as well as I can, like all of my fellow men, and pray they will come to know our Lord and His good news.
